RCT2: Doubles .:. Template posted pg.5

Seeing as RCPro currently lacks an RCT2 competition with a solid set of rules and seeing the success of past years Summer Showdowns, I thought it would be a good idea to brainstorm a smaller-scale competition for this summer. What I have in mind is a doubles-based competition where contestants choose a partner to work with, and have 2 to 3 months to create their best work on the given template.

The template of choice will be the official NE bench made by geewhzz, which many of you are familiar with. Anything can be done within the allotted space and the restrictions are only within you and you're partner's imaginations. What I need to know is who would be interested in participating if I were to finalize this contest, along with who would be willing to judge when the time comes.

Judging System:

Architecture / Scenery: Possible 10 pts.

Creativity / Ingenuity: Possible 10 pts.

Rides / Attractions: Possible 10 pts.

Possible 30 pts. awarded.

This system purposely overlaps all category's within the total 30 pts. to make sure no quality aspects of the park are missed when judging occurs. I have personally used this system and find it works very well.

So whoever is interested in judging or participating in this contest please post below. If enough people are interested in making this happen, I'll finalize the deadlines and we'll be underway. :smile:

Hey, I'm not much up for competing due to the certain curse that plagues me in RCT2 compo's (Mainly both my teams breaking up in 2 consecutive Summer Showdowns -.-)

But I'm up for judging! As long as it doesn't conflict with DCI, I'm here, ready and able :D.

Oops, I just remembered that I'll be gone for most of July, starting the 6th. So unless I can get my part done before then, I'll have to drop out. I could probably judge though, although it'd have to be after I'm back.

Actually, can I switch over to judging? I seem to not be able to find my RCT2 disk anywhere and I can't auto-run the game without it for some reason :/

Your aren't going to be able to judge if you can't run RCT2 ;).

When you find it, you can decide what you want to do.

Kill The Batman, I will provide a download link for the workbench at the start of the contest. For those with partners already, please do not start yet. I will know if you started early and you must use the geewhzz workbench that I provide. It will be specially marked for this contest to make sure nobody begins early.

We just build a park to the best of our ability, and just hope for the best?
Why not add in an extra rule or two like "Only one screen is permitted" for a "Preview"of the park, and so teams will be able to get an idea of where they stand in the comp?

btw, I can't wait for this to start.

It's a throwdown... the judging system works on all types of building. If you want to go futuristic, go for it. Realistic, no problem. Fill the template with black space? It will probably hurt your score... but you can do it. I think you get my point.

I've been thinking about the size of the template and I'm wondering if I should downsize it for the competition. What size do you think you guys are capable of filling before the end of August? 100-100, 80-80, etc? I need input, if It's too varied, I'll let you guys make the template you're own size and shape with the black space object. Just give me you're thoughts, please.

As for the size, I dont know. 100x100 is fine with me, we'll be able to fill most of it.

Yeah I'd say maybe 80*80, or 90*90 at the most, it would be hard to finish anything bigger in two months.

why dont you just pair up the kids who dont have partners with the other kids who dont have partners.

^That will happen on it's own assuming everyone on the list wants to participate. Besides, if they can't make the effort to pair up with someone, are they going to make the effort to build a park? Im not going to force anybody to work with someone they don't want too.

^Its a combination of owning all land and having no border fence. There actually is a guest entrance underground in one of the map corners, although I'm not sure its functional without some hacks. I'll look into it.

I'm sorry guys, but I was informed only hours before RCPro's closure that my partner couldn't participate, and wasn't able to get in touch with another partner. Now I'm about to leave for vacation and I wont have any time for RCT2. I might do some work on the car ride, but we'll see.

I like that idea. I wouldnt mind signing up for this comp., but it all depends on if I will have time.

Oh, I completely agree with the last part. After school tends to get, boring... Which reminds me, I really wouldnt mind seeing the draft come back sometime soon, but thats another discussion completely.
