Another great addition for 2008, this looks like an awesome coaster. That ending looks way intense.

I love the photoshopped Millennium Force photos, lol. That ending does look way intense, all most too intense.

Cool! I'm liking the looks of all the whiplash turns.

While not the grand scale Intamins we've come to love, I've got to say this layout impresses me a bit more than the other recent Intamins. What makes it for me is how this ride's more about going back to the roots of standard lifts and drops, nice cutbacks, and a strong bunnyhill-filled finish.

I love how the NL pov hits red numerous times. :p

Well it looks like its going to be an interesting ride. We'll see how it does.

This is pretty like the thing what Tobu Zoo Park will open in the 2008 spring season, and I got to see the entire layout on this site. It looks like a sweet twister with lots of airs.

I love these small compact Intamin's more-so than the giants we normally see from them. The layout is original and has enough features to pack a punch. Let's see what this baby's got. :)

I think this looks like a nice solid coaster, but I have one problem. To me, Roller Coasters are like a play. They start out with anticipation and then reach the climax, only to finish with a strong finale. The problem I see with Piraten is that it doesn't exactly go anywhere, and it just seems to layer within itself. Other than that it has a strong manipulation of gravitational forces and I think the ride has potential to be something legendary.

(I believe there is a park in Asia that is building an exact replica of the ride in 2008. If somebody could help me out trying to find it that'd be great. Thanks)

I think the name is Heart Beat, although RCDB doesn't have one listed yet.

Wow, they've already got almost all the supports up. And some coasters haven't even had track delivered. Maybe after Maverick, they figured there might be complications.

Man, this ride looks WICKED! I hope I can ride it one of these days.

It's clone going into Tobu Zoo has all the track complete and it didn't take them long to get that done once they got into a groove, so I can see this being completely done in two months or so.

Some photos from Themepark Denmark (http://www.themeparkdenmark.dk/newdesign.php):

This is the low lying turn coming out of the Camel Back Hill. It leads into an inverted Corkscrew turn.

Here's the Camel Back hill. It's sure to provide some great negative forces.

This is the second element on the ride, the twisted camel back that travels under the apex of the first drop.

This reminds me sooo much of Maverick! :D

I can't wait to see it completed.

This coaster looks like the better of the "modern" Intamin coasters, even if it is being cloned. From what I've seen, these "Mega-Lite (http://www.rcdb.com/model375.htm)" coasters may just be the new "fad" so to speak from Intamin. I really would like to see one of these Mega-Lite's in the states, as I have a feeling that these would be well recieved over here. I kind of want to ride this more than Maverick, which is odd considering I prefer inversions over airtime hills. It seems like I would have more fun on this as opposed to Maverick. Lets all hope Piraten doesnt have the OTSR's Intamin has been installing on all of their coasters as of late.

This ride looks really fun, and hopefully some parks in the states build more of these junior hypers. Despite the size of this coaster, it looks like it will have some good airtime, and some of those turns are taken at a pretty high rate of speed.

This Intamin looks so big, and it's really like coaster fanatics are even going to scream out loud, as it goes twist up in the second hill. ( which looks quite scary just for a hill )

I made a nice Piraten pre-creation in No Limits. If anybody is interested in looking at it or if anybody wants to help me GameCam it so everybody can see, please let me know through PM or AIM. :)

Heres the "Pre-Creation" I did of the ride. Please don't mind the choppy-ness. Youtube isn't the best for uploading "high quality" footage...

Enjoy!

Niceee... the layout is pretty dead on.

That was very smooth in my opinion! It definitely looks like a fun layout, with all of the airtime and all. :)

Great job Mike! I think the actual coaster may be a bit more compact than that, but I could be wrong. Do you know how long that is compared to the actual ride?

Mike T
01-31-2008, 09:43 PM
The only major thing that I really goofed on was the radius of the first drop, at the crown of the hill. Mine, although still pretty large, was still too tight of a radius. It should have been larger and the lift a tad bit steeper. But other than that the ride is proportional to the design. Heres a look at the actual design of the ride, generated by what looks like some version of CAD...

Well, Piraten has opened. A member of TPR posted some photos (http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=574818) of the ride, and it looks like an awesome coaster. The fact that these are so small really add to their attraction, because it becomes that much more affordable for smaller parks. And, it fits.

As Robb points out later in the linked thread, the ride is a clone of Tobu Zoo (http://rcdb.com/pd450.htm)'s newest addition. (http://rcdb.com/id3799.htm) So Mike's layout becomes that much less impressive :stick_tongue:
