Round Four

http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/gallery/kemah/bb/19.jpg
Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk

Objective:
[You are a designer that will build a layout for the manufacturer.]

A small to midsized theme park is looking to invest in a compact wooden rollercoaster. Due to the already packed park, the area planned for the new ride is significantly smaller than most used for other wooden coasters. Due to frequent travel of commuter planes, the maximum height of all structures in the park is 120 feet. Trying not to compete with one of the park’s already existing wooden coasters, the park requires this new wooden coaster to be less than 110 feet tall. The attraction must be within 2,250 to 3,500 feet in length. The park also requests that the ride cycle at least 32 guests and that the coaster uses Millennium Flyer style trains. You may choose any configuration, just remember you will be judged on how realistic your ride is (for an example, do not use trains with 8 passengers or any other ridiculous configuration). It is your choice on how you would like to configure the trains, just make sure you stick to at least 32 riders (for an example but not limited to; two sixteen passenger trains, or three fourteen passenger trains, ect.).

You cannot build track outside the boundaries indicated by the markers, this includes supports and footers. You may not alter the terrain in any shape or form. You may add as many trees as you like, but keep in mind the small area that is presented. To adequately fit the layout of the park, the station must be somewhere inside of the box marked with a purple "X".

Remember, build within the parameters the park asks, yet be creative and realistic!

Good luck to all participants!

This is perfect! I have been trying to perfect my GCI style coasters for some time now, this is exactly what I needed!

I can't stand building wooden rollercoasters, but this looks like it might be some fun...I think I'll give it a go.

I have done probably close to 8 hours of work on mine, no major pumps are left, very fast paced, pretty much a BAMF of a coaster. If you were trying to rate it on a scale of the office characters, I would say it would be the Dwight of coasters.

My layout is finished, pretty satisfied... Time for the fine tuning.;)

Just to be sure--- We can change the color of the track and trains, right? - The scheme that is already set is almost exactly what I was originally planning. Will you take off points if the colors are the same/very similar?

Michael
10-05-2008, 06:01 PM
Sorry, the color sheme set is that of another wooden coaster I was working on earlier that day :p. Yes, you can change the colors, lol.

Wow...I didn't check the length until I finished the layout...
I only beat the minimum by 8 feet. XD.

Mines pretty much as done as it's gonna get. It probably won't win, but oh well. I'll add it in a minute.

EDIT: Never mind. The forum upload limit needs to be bumped up. The file is like 134 kb so if possible can we get it up to 200?

Steve, is there a way you could help us with the delema? :p

This kinda sucks. Can we at least get the deadline pushed until this is sorted out? I don't wanna get disqualified because I couldn't upload my track. But I guess thats kinda hard if nobody else can upload either.

Michael

Deadline has been moved to next Friday, November 7th untill further word from Steve or we figure something out. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the entries.

Here's mine.... I'm not that satisfied as it's my first coaster where I actually used the segment divider. It is a bit rough and the lats are crazy in some places, but I think it's fun and unpredictable overall.

Micheal, can Akiro not compete since he didn't follow the rule for the trains? Not to be a b***h or anything Akiro, but it's clearly stated in the rules.

Akiro
11-07-2008, 06:33 PM
You may choose any configuration, just remember you will be judged on how realistic your ride is (for an example, do not use trains with 8 passengers or any other ridiculous configuration). I think anything lower than 8 or 8 passenger trains would be unrealistic, 10 passenger trains could be "allowed"..

well, as of now, i follow the rules :D

Renegade
11-07-2008, 07:08 PM
What the rule means Akiro is that all the trains combined must equal a passenger count of 32.

DR27
11-07-2008, 07:13 PM
^Adding to that.

It means it must equal at least 32, where more than 32 riders is acceptable.

Remember, it's up to the voters to determine what's realistic and what's not...

Well he isn't going to post results, he's posting the poll so people can vote on the winner.

When he does it doesn't really matter. He's reliable, he'll do it.

Michael

Remind you, round two took much longer to start the poll... ;)

I do apologize for the delay, Iit's been non stop for me. I've had work, and alot of it. I'll be back from Psychology at like 2:00 Eastern time, so eleven for you Cali folks :p.
