1. Maverick - Cedar Point - for it's airtime, intense turns, and insane layout. best ride I've been on, possibly the best ride created. There's no over-hyping.
2. Beast - King's Island - Possibly as good as Maverick. I love it for the insanely intense turns, out of control feeling, and of course, the beast's lair (the tunnel).
3. Millennium Force - Cedar Point - My former number one and former namesake :rolleyes:. This coaster is incredible, arguably the best drop out there, this coaster delivers air time, a long layout, and rewarding memories.
4. Magnum XL200 - Cedar Point - Built in 1989, and it's this good? I love this ride, the air time is second to none, the layout is gargantuan, and the second hill overlooking the lake gives one of the best views in the world of coasters.
5. Top Thrill Dragster - Cedar Point - Arguably one of the most thrilling experiences out there, this thing is the definition of an adrenaline rush. The theming is great, the launch is a once in a lifetime experience, the drop, omg.
6. Raptor - Cedar Point - An insane drop, insane maneuvers, tight g's and crazy angles, Raptor just screams fighter jet. it's incredible.
7. Mantis - Cedar Point - A highly controversial ride, you either love it or hate it. I love this ride for it's well thought out layout, great pacing, insane intensity, and amazing maneuvers. I simply love this thing.
8. Racer - King's Island - My first rollercoaster, this is a classic. Great airtime, a nice long layout, racing, it can't get any better.
9. Wildfire - Silver Dollar City - This ride kicks ***. The first 140 ft immelman alone could make mytop ten, this thing is fast, intense, and full of surprises. It's also the ride I marathoned 35 times in two days :rolleyes:
10. Firehawk - King's Island - What's a better experience than flying? I love this ride for the crazy maneuvers, long layout, and overall appeal, it's a great ride for KI, a great investment.

1. Tatsu. I love flying and the position it puts you in on every element. Everything about it is amazing. The height, forces, and feeling.

2. V2: Vertical Velocity. Yeah, it might be surprising but I love it. I love the catipult sound it makes when it launches, and the awesome hang time it gives you on the twists. And the backwards spike is actually pretty thrilling in the back.

3. Xcelerator. two words: Launch, Air-Time.

4. Speed. The launch, sharp overbanked turn, underground tunnel, loop, second launch, cruising turns, spike, and the backwardsness all makes this coaster great, fun, and thrilling.

5. Goliath. It is actually pretty forceless and not scary at all. It's just a fun ride and that's why I like it.

6. Riddler's Revenge. Extreme hang-time.

7. Silver Bullet. The overbanked turn is my favorite element. It gives you a great feeling and some zero gravity. And it's not forceless. The helix is very dizzying (especially when you ride it 7 times in a row).

8. Medusa. Good coaster, fun loops, good drop.

9. Scream! It's ok. It really shouldn't belong on my Top 10, but it's all I got. The first couple times I rode it, I loved it. But the last couple times it's been a little rough, too fast, and not fun.

10. Batman: The Ride Clone. The nice force is all I like about this coaster.

I'm gonna pull this off the top of my head:
1. X2 - Would have to take the top spot - the transformation was incredible! If you haven't ridden this one yet, make sure you do.
2. Tatsu - By far the best flyer I've ridden, probably the best in the world, though I can't say for sure, especially with Manta coming up. The pretzel loop is so much more intense than S:UF, however.
3. Nitro - The airtime is incredible, definitely the best airtime coaster I've ridden. Left me wanting more...so I rode again. :) (Note, do not have a camera between your leg and the restraints, as this can lead to major pain. :o)
4. Goliath (SFMM) - This coaster is just awesome, one of the first 'big' coasters I ever rode, still one of the best...want to give Titan a try however...Why aren't there more Giovanola coasters in the world? :(
5. Kingda Ka - From what I've heard it's nowhere close to TTD...haven't been to CP (yet) so I can't say, but it is a ride to remember, and your friends will be impressed.
6. Space Mountain (DLR) - This ride isn't fast or thrilling, but it is fun. There's not too many rides that leave me with a smile on my face like this one does! (Like literally, "I was grinning the whole time and for half an hour after I got off.)
7. Colossus BACKWARDS (SFMM) - Normally my favorite wooden coaster is Roar at SFDK, but now that I have ridden Colossus backwards, this ride has beaten even Roar. It's a whole new experience. Make sure to visit Fright Fest at SFMM sometime, because this is AWESOME! (Oh, and El Toro was closed when I went, otherwise that'd probably be on the list. Stupid lightning! lol)
8. Medusa (SFDK) - My former home park has one gem, Medusa! Just an all-around fun B&M.
9. Batman:The Ride (more than one park, but my favorite is at SFMM) - Gotta love the classics. The first invert remains the best.
10. Superman:Ultimate Flight - (SFGAdv) - Doesn't even touch Tatsu, but it's a fun ride...oh, and the theming doesn't even rival B:TR's...fitting because Batman is so much better than Superman. :D

It all depends on how rough you like it. (TWSS!) If you can deal with rough coasters pretty good, then Viper is great...Some people juat can't handle it...;)

I think there is a threshold between being exciting rough (like a good wooden coaster) and just painful. Viper, to me at least, is just painful. Same with X. I walked off with sore calves from the fact that they were too cheap to pad the leg rests and a 20 minute long throbbing headache from the jerky rotations.

Yes, I did ride Psyclone...once. But the fact that Psyclone was possibly the most uncomfortable ride in existence doesn't automatically negate Viper's ride experience. Just because Psyclone was worse doesn't mean Viper is good. Maybe it just feels different to me because I'm so tall.

My headache experience was actually just a few months ago. I say X because I refuse to give in to the marketing play of the new name. Once again, I'm not the average rider size, so maybe that has something to do with how I experience things.

Colossus feels like a massage to me. It would be nice if the seats were padded a bit better though, cuz it gets a litte rough on the butt when you're bony like me.

I loved Psyclone, but I gotta agree, Viper is like a smooth B&M in comparison. X is the same. I rode on it a couple months before it became X2, and it was a bit rough, just like Arrows usually are. I herd the newer trains make the ride soo much smoother though.

There are so many things worse than Viper. IMO, Boomerang @ Knott's, Colossus, Demon @ CGA, Canyon Blaster @ the Adventuredome, etc. And Viper still is a bt rough in some spots, like the corkscrews and that turn before the corkscrew, but besides that it's a very good, enjoyable ride!

Good to see Thunderbolt getting some love! What a great ride.

T-Bolt is an amazing ride.. I'm saddened it isn't liked by more.. seems to be overshadowed by Phanny. It was just so much fun, wasn't too rough, and gave some pretty good air. I haven't ridden it in a while even though I live an hour away.. I need to go back to the Wood.

So, apparently, Diamondback lived up to the Behemoth hype.. the airtime is delicious, with strong floater up front and ejector.. yes.. ejector. Awesome ride.

Cornball Express was the biggest shock I've been on since Boulder Dash. I heard it was ok, not bad, but not something that would blow me away. A few rides later, I was in airtime heaven.. holy hell awesome. Buzz bars plus a loose seat belt in the front row.. hell any row.. gives a fantastic ride. Amazing.

Rode Terminator today, and with the subpar crew, no audio working, and huge crowds today, I was a bit disappointed. Not all what I was hoping for but still enough to crack my top ten...barely. Also, after AMAZING Tatsu and X2 rides today, X2 at night, they confirmed top spots, but Prowler is still virtually dead locked with X2 now. I need to get a night time Prowler ride to confirm final spots, but oh well.

New Top 10!

1 - Millennium Force. No one here knows how much I expected out of this ride, how excited I was for it, how much I knew I'd love it...and it was even better. Just an amazing ride that I'd wait all day for. I got to ride it 3 times during my stay at Cedar Point, and each ride was amazing. The first drop and the height of this ride are what makes it number 1, and the overbanked turns and hills are also great. I love everything about this ride. I can't see it ever being beat.

2 - Maverick. What a great ride. It's so quick and so much fun. It just flings you through everything so happily but also very strongly. I love the tunnel out of the launch, the quick turns, the intensity, and the extreme air-time. Also got to ride this one 3 times, and again, all rides were amazing.

3 - X2. A very fun and unique ride. Nothing beats that first drop, not even Millennium Force, it's just the rest of the ride that's kind of 'meh' that makes it number 3. There are some rough spots, especially if you sit in an outside seat, but the fire, fog, and audio make up for this. SFMM did a great job with X2. They turned a long, boring, slow lift hill into an exciting part of the ride with audio getting you ready for the ride. So much fun, I never get tired of this ride.

4 - Voyage. Wow. This is the most intense coaster I've ever been on. This is the most INSANE coaster I've ever been on. It will just not end, the turns and air-time do not stop. I once again got to ride Voyage 3 times during my time at Holiday World, and on each ride I started out with my hands up and ended up with them down. It's so hard to keep them up, it's crazy intense!

5 - Goliath (SFMM). A great ride. A really nice first drop into a very small tunnel, and an amazing air-time hill make this coaster awesome.

6 - Phantom's Revenge. Another VERY intense and insane ride. The first drop is 'meh' as expected, but I love the second drop, diving under Thunderbolt (which is another great ride). The end of the ride just basically tries to kill you. You take these little bunnyhops that you might find on a GCI coaster at extreme speeds, and you put them close together. You end up FLOWN out of your seat and your head is FLUNG back everytime. Almost a little too much force.

7 - Diamondback. This was very disappointing. I loved the first drop, all 6 times...but the rest of the ride did nothing for me. The air-time wasn't that noticable, and there was vibration on the bottom of every hill. The trim on the hill after the hammerhead sucked, and the helices were very forceless. Again, I do love the first drop. I extremely love that first drop. That is why it is number 7.

8 - Magnum XL-200. A pretty extreme ride. 20 years and still smooth, and great. The only roughness you get on this ride is if you sit towards the back. Then you will get extreme air-time and you will get launched into your seat on every hill in the second half. The tunnels make the ride even more thrilling and overall it is very very fun.

9 - Top Thrill Dragster. Not too much to say about this ride, I just really like the height and speed.

10 - Xcelerator. Very close to TTD in my Top 10 (as you can see), almost tied. I think Xcelerator is more thrilling, has more air-time, and is more of an actual ride, but again I love TTD's height and speed. Overall, I really like them both and they are a lot of fun.

I have a top 10 woodies list, but no steel. It's been WAY too long since I've visited any park other than Six Flags America and Hershey and I can't make fair comparisons I've only ridden 16 woodies, so it's easy to pick out the best. However, I am going to Six Flags Great Adventure on July 20th. That should jumble up my lists a bit.

POV's do NO justice. You know how you felt after Voyage? Imagine that.. x5.. and that was my first ride on Boulder Dash.

And it got even better the more and more I rode it. TPR has a video of it, check it out, because POV's are nice, but the off-ride shows its true OMFGness of the ride.

Dare I say it, I've lost the ability to rank rides anymore! Pretty strange. I know people who can spit out their top 10 out of the 400 they've ridden and I'm struggling at 172.

With that in mind, I'll throw out a few rides that I feel to be above average, though whether or not they constitute my top 10 is a matter of heated debate.

1) Titan - Six Flags Over Texas

The opposite of what a hyper usually is, Titan excels in the realm of positive g's, though the speed hill coming off of the first turnaround serves up some quality flotation. The addition of the second helix makes Titan the better of the two Giovanola hypertwisters, and yes, I've been on both.

2) Superman-Ride of Steel - Six Flags New England

I last rode this in 2007, when it was still a Superman, so I imagine it's only better now with the extra thematics. Hard to imagine, though, as this ride was already an epic machine in its original incarnation. Plenty of airtime and a twister-style second half make this a must-ride for any coaster lover.

3) Maverick - Cedar Point

The best ride on the peninsula in my opinion, Maverick is the stuff of legends. The layout is insane, to put it bluntly, and the intensity never lets up. The restraints may cause some shoulder discomfort, but the incredible quality more than makes up for it. Maverick is a home run in every sense of the word.

4) Kumba - Busch Gardens Tampa

Do not ride this ride too early on in your coaster career as it blows almost every other looping ride in existence out of the water. The layout is superb, and the terrain interaction gives off a better sense of speed than most rides usually achieve. Celebrating its sweet sixteen this year, this ride proves that B&M got it right early on in their existence.

5) Nitro - Six Flags Great Adventure

While not possessing a particularly extreme layout, Nitro still manages to land itself a spot among my top-rated coasters. The ride is butter smooth with a layout that delivers in exhilaration more so than both-crushing positive g's or butt-launching airtime, but it still manages to pack the forces in where necessary. Nitro proves that even without loops, B&M can still blow you away.

6) Millennium Force - Cedar Point

If it's so forceless, how come I get tunnel vision every time I ride? Simply put, it isn't forceless. Millennium Force is all about speed and size, and it doesn't sacrifice quality in the pursuit of either. Millennium Force is an outstanding ride all the way from start to finish, and if you don't agree, you're a communist.

7) Boardwalk Bullet - Kemah Boardwalk

If you were to come up and ask me what my favorite wooden coasters are, I would tell you that Boardwalk Bullet is my number one, and Phoenix, my next favorite, is number five. That's right. There are no two through four. Boardwalk Bullet is just that good. It is hands down the most intense, insane wooden coaster I have ever ridden, and it is also the only coaster that scared me more the second time I rode it than the first. Knowing what's coming up is more terrifying than not knowing, and that, my friends, is how you know the ride is outstanding. I may have difficulty picking out a favorite steelie, but there is no question as to which wooden coaster is my favorite.

8) Batman - The Ride - Various

I have ridden four clones of the original (three Batmen plus Fiesta Texas's Goliath), and I have yet to find another inverted coaster with such unbridled intensity. Many people like to say of their favorite rides that they don't give you a chance to really catch your breath, but rarely is that as true a statement as when one is discussing B&M's original inverted coaster. The ride is mind-blowing in intensity and still manages to rank among my favorites, even though it's one of the oldest of the bunch. Those of you blessed to have one less than three hours away should be very thankful you've got one of these masterpieces close to home.

9) Dominator - Kings Dominion

What makes Dominator so special is what makes it so different. It isn't just a massive string of inversions with a turn or two here and there; its non-looping moments are in some cases as stellar as its incredible inversions. It has some of the best inversions out there, but it has a lot of added twists and turns taken at great speeds linking them all together. The ride is very intense, more so than many of its floorless brethren (not by much, but enough to notice), and it really packs in some serious exhilaration as well. The ride is a classic, and bless Cedar Fair for hanging on to it.

10) Mantis - Cedar Point

The first, and arguably the best, of the megastandups, Mantis is more of the unbridled intensity that separates the great rides from the good ones. It packs in some excellent inversions and a killer S-turn in its first half and an exceptional spaghetti bowl of steel in the second. Fantastic throughout, Mantis is a decade-old delight sure to keep crowds happy for many more years to come.

Someone finally defended Millennium and Mantis, I'm impressed; they really are both terrific coasters. Mantis is really an acquired taste though, I can see why people argue that it's too rough. I find it on the verge of painful in a few spots, but the layout, g forces, pacing, and ride elements make up for a few rough spots. I still prefer Chang with it's double corkscrew, but Mantis is a solid B&M classic.

I can see why people don't like Mantis as well, but I find that it's one of those rides where if you have the tolerance, it'll blow you away. It's not for everyone, and I understand that, but for those who can take it, it's a real champ.

Chang and Riddler's Revenge are both fantastic as well. I feel blessed to have been able to add all three megastandups to my track record.

My list changed again yesterday. I experienced my first NON amazing Prowler ride yesterday, still great, but not amazing, and then I had the biggest airtime filled Mamba run imaginable. I can't find a picture to show where the airtime filled moment was, I think I have one on my camera but I haven't uploaded them yet, but on the second hill, I was out of my seat from right before the top of the hill all the way to where it started to round out at the bottom. It was incredible! Take Goliath's floater hill and add 10 seconds to it, Mamba is completely underrated, as I like it more and more each time I ride it.

Prowler made the jump over X2. Like I said I had a not so great ride yesterday, but I rode it again in the front, (making my count be 2 front row, 3 back row, 2 11th row, and 1 tenth row) and I was all smiles during the entire ride. I have the layout down enough where I can predict the forces pretty well, but I still get caught occasionally. It is a great feeling, I will be going back next Wednesday.

Now for my BOTTOM 5, this changed yesterday as well

It just goes to show that people have differing preferences, opinions, and resistance to forces. Like me, I thought Fahrenheit was very forceful all around and the pretzel was great. But then I'm very resistant to pain. While I acknowledge certain rides as being rough (like Python at BGA or Roar at SFA), I can't say that I get hurt by them or even get a headache.

There are just too many outstanding coasters that I've ridden that absolutely kick Mantis all the way to Canada and back. I don't even think its that rough, it just doesn't stack up to Hulk, or even Mystery Mine. But again, that's my personal opinion. That just really surprises me.

None of the three are listed in the Golden Tickets. KI's Flight Deck ranks higher than Mantis at 176 while Mantis is 189. Surprisingly, Firehawk, which is ranked lower than Batwing, comes in at only 203.

For me, Diamondback has ranked up on my list, with Maverick and The Beast still sitting strong at #1 and #2, respectively.

I don't know about an actual top ten right now, but I just rode Renegade, and that jumped up to my #1 woodie. (No GG yet...) How does Renegade compare to Prowler?

From everything I have heard about Renegade, it is supposed to be not near as good as Prowler. The drop is supposed to be a little better than Prowler's, I doubt it considering Prowler's drop is one of the most insane I have experienced, and the terrain aspect makes it much better than Renegade. I might try and make an end of season trip to ride Renegade, or I will go in the spring. Evel may end up being a weekend trip here pretty soon.

Let's do this:

1. X2 - Nothing has beaten this ride for me...yet!
2. Tatsu - Only the best flying coaster on the planet, IMO.
3. Nitro - Amazing airtime and great drops.
4. Space Mountain (DLR) - Only coaster that can make me get off with a genuine smile on my face. Enough said.
5. Renegade - By far the best woodie I've ridden. Especially in the dark, this ride goes FAST!
6. Goliath (SFMM) - One of my favorite hypers, a little short on airtime, but the first drop and the helix are amazing!
7. Batman:The Ride (any, though I'm partial to SFMM) I'm still challenging any invert to beat the sheer intensity of this ride.
8. Kingda Ka - The tallest coaster in the world, and a really fun ride...mostly because of bragging rights.
9. Backlot Stunt Coaster (PCW) I rode it when it was still the Italian Job, and it's a fun little ride. I enjoyed the theming. And no...if there was not theming, it would be far from my top ten!
10. Cyclone (CI) - Classic. Never gets old.

It would probably rank around 15th on just my steel coasters list, and I've only been on 84 steel coasters, so that says something.

And hey, from what I hear, Scream! is a good ride. It's just so lowly looked upon because it's on a parking lot.

There are a few good reasons to hate MilF.

1. It is forceless
2. It has no balls so to say, it lacks intensity
3. It is extremely overrated based on its location

Those are a few reasons why it COULD suck. I find it to be FUN, but nothing more than fun. I would wait for Terminator The Suck, for as long as I would wait for MilF

Millennium Force - forceless? Blasphemy!

Maybe I've jut hit it on good days, but that ride seriously plasters me into my seat on a number of occasions, resulting in some wicked tunnel vision. It's one of the more forceful rides I've been on.

Personally, I can't wait to get the chance to ride MilF. If I think it sucks, oh well, it's something on the list to check off and I'll be glad I did it.

In summary, Voyage kicked Maverick squarely out of my #1 spot. In fact, Maverick is a very distant second to Voyage now. Raven is an outstanding coaster, but just barely misses out on topping Thunderhead. It is just about as non-stop as Thunderhead, but not quite as smooth. Despite Rampage and Legend both having identical drops, I still prefer Rampage's first drop, and as an overall coaster. And my top ten is now half steel, half wood, with Raven coming in and bumping Mystery Mine down to 11th.

The park is up there as one of my favorites too it just needs that modern support coaster in my opinion like a spinning Gerstlauer, or even better a Gerstluer terrain bobsled coaster

I didn't like it that much, but I thought that I was the only one that was happy with HRRR. I am glad to see that I am not alone afterall.
I love making lists, so I ranked all 182 (now 201 actually). This one is toward the bottom of my first 25. In almost all cases, when two rides are similar, the one that I rode second does not bump the first one out of its place. In other words, the most recent coaster on a list of clones or near clones is normally ranked lower.

It's got great special effects but the ride itself is not that great. It is my #80.
I'm glad to see that for those who have ridden it, Prowler is starting to show up as a favorite. Wow, what a neverending blast
