Earlier in the year it has been reported that representatives from an up an coming theme park chain has been scouting the area for a possible new location for a theme park. It has been confirmed that the Six Flags Chain (known for parks in Texas and Georgia) has purchased 200 acres of land for development. Six Flags, currently in the works of taking ownership of the well known Southern California Park Magic Mountain, wants to build a park in Northern California to serve as a "sister park" and to compete with Marriott's Great America in Santa Clara California. The Park set to be built in Castroville (north of Monterey and adjacent to Salinas), will feature world class attractions and themed areas that would represent the Monterey County. Six Flags Execs state the park will start off small and debut with one theme land based on Old Town Salinas with a numerous amount of attractions and 3 roller coasters; one of them being a wooden coaster that exceeds 150ft tall. It would debut as the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world. Although the park would seem to be a nice addition to the area, some locals are less than amused. One local stated that he is not looking forward to noise and traffic congestion that park will bring. The working title is Six Flags Over California but the name is still not finalized. Construction has already began and the park is expected to open in the Spring of 1980.

Last year we reported about the new Six Flags’ park that was coming to Castroville area. We can confirm that the park name will be “Six Flags Monterey Bay” and not “Over California” as stated before. We sent a reporter to see the progress of the upcoming theme park and to get a personal tour during the construction. We didn’t come empty handed either!! We managed to snag a couple of photos to show everyone the progress of the upcoming debut! As it looks, the park will open with 9 attractions that include 3 roller coasters. The park seems to be real small but looking around the park boundaries there are lots of room for future construction. When we asked a Six Flags execs why the park is going to open with only 9 rides and such a small area with a lot of land, they replied, “It was purposely done; we don’t want to build a huge metropolis and turn out to be a failure. We want to start small, and if we can bring in the public we will supply more attractions.” This is a smart remark considering there are still mixed reviews about the park from the locals. The park construction seems to be moving to schedule as planned, and is set to be open in the Spring of 1980. Thanks for reading….Below are these photos of the current construction.

Its now been seven years since the park has been open and not much has happened since the parks debut in 1980. With last years removal of Shockwave (built in 1984 as the first stand-up coaster in the U.S., now moved to Magic Mountain as part of the ride exchange program) there hasn’t been any new rides installed. Park guests are starting to get bored with riding the same rides and are upset with the removal of Shockwave. However, the Park Execs are not too worried with the current park status do to their plans for expansion over the next two years.

- First, they announced that they removed themselves from the ride exchange program do to the complaints they got from the removal of Shockwave.
- Second, they announced a new theme land with two new rides for 1988, one of them being a rollercoaster. They didn’t want to talk too much about the coaster. All they said that company behind the project is Arrow Dynamics.
- Third, they announced another new theme land for 1990 along with four new rides, one of them being another rollercoaster. Again they didn’t mention much about it, they are still going through the stages of picking a company for the project.

The Park is already started promotion on the new rollercoaster for next year. The coaster will be built when the park is closed for the winter. It’s scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend while the other new attraction and new themed area will open in the beginning of April. Below is a screenshot of the promotional billboards that are plastered all over the park.

So the park is now open for its ninth season, and people are coming in droves. I guess to take a sneak peak of the new rides and themed land this season. Diablo is now complete and has begun testing. It’s an Arrow Dynamic suspended coaster. Our sister park Magic Mountain also installed a suspended coaster this year as well and both will be tied as the fastest suspended coasters in the world. But I think ours is going to be better because of the demonic themes and it’s taller than the other, I think its called the Ninja down there. I just saw construction workers install this huge animatronic demon creature (we call him Desmond the Demon) installed by the first drop. It’s said to also throw flames at riders. By the looks of things, the coaster construction is right on time for its memorial weekend debut. In other news, construction workers have yet to began on the other attraction, but by guessing the recent update on the park map its going be a Sky Tower; very similar to the one at Magic Mountain. It’s supposedly going to be open next month, but I highly doubt that do to the delayed construction. In other news, the park admission prices have gone up, which make since with the new added attractions for this season. During a couple of my breaks, I snooped by Diablo and I took some photos for you guys. My neighbor’s dad owns a helicopter so I also got to take an aerial shot of the ride too!! Below is an updated park map and screenshots of Diablo. I’ll keep you informed about Sky Tower.

Not to sound like a prick or anything, but the logo you're using for the park (the actual SF one) is totally inaccurate. Not saying that you should change it, but just pointing it out..

As for the park, it's looking really nice thus far, though it's not quite got the SF atmosphere.

as far as CS. I got a good graphics card and a lot of memory, but the ironic thing about it is that no matter how many upgrades you'll do to your computer eventually the game will still lag

It’s been a week since the earthquake struck Northern California…… ……..We are happy to report that no one had received any major injuries at the Six Flags park. However the park did receive some minor damage. Parts of pavement in the park need to be repaved and the most damage was done to this building seen in the picture below. The roller coasters received little to no damage along with the other rides.
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/777/se0423.jpg (http://img21.imageshack.us/my.php?image=se0423.jpg)

Park Officials stated that park would not re-open this season due to the repairs that the park needs, and also to start construction on the new themed area for the 1990 season with its 10-year anniversary….

….In other Six Flags news, the Six Flags chains held a press conference stating that both California parks will be bitten next year by venomous snakes. As they announced the new coasters for next season they revealed some details about the “snakes”. Both will be two completely different rides. SoCal’s snake will be built by Arrow and will be the tallest, fastest, most looping coaster in the world. NorCal’s snake will be built by Vekoma and will be the first looping coaster for that park. The similarities of the two are the name. SoCal’s will be dubbed “Viper” while NorCal’s will be dubber “La Vibora” (which is Spanish for “The Viper”). Both are set to open 4/7/1990.
Below is the promotion poster for La Vibora.

ONLY FOUR MORE WEEKS UNTIL OPENING DAY!!
Construction workers are working around the clock to have the new themed area completed by opening day. The new land will be called Castro Festival; which is loosely based on the town the park is built in (Castroville). The area features our newest coaster La Vibora that will turn you upside down 6 times!!! Also there are 3 other flat rides that were also installed. Castro Festival will open on opening day along with the 3 flat rides while La Vibora will open on April 7.
Below are some photos of the construction that took place between late December of last year till the present.

Ziggmuff - the Six Flags logo hasn't been that forever.. Even at this time, 1990, the logo still wasn't designed to be like it is today.

Today, Six Flags Monterey Bay unleashed its new coaster La Vibora. The rollercoaster is the first of the park that has inversions. The attraction drew in huge crowds with lines that exceed 3 hours in wait time. It didn’t help the fact that the coaster itself suffers a lot of down time. Pretty much a hit and miss with the park critics. Guests that were actually able to ride the coaster said it was on of the greatest rushes they ever had, however many felt that it wasn’t worth the wait. Below are some press pictures.

We did notice something interesting during our stay in the park that day. While on Sky Tower, one of our journalist noticed a body of water that resembled a beach. The interesting thing about is that it wasn’t there a month ago when the park opened this season. No one said anything about a future expansion. When we asked park employees about the new body of water in the park, all of them said either “what water?” or “no comment”. Only time will tell to see what this develops into.

Well obviously it doesn't. He just went with the whole time line approach and if he really wanted to go that extra mile he could have had a more accurate logo for that particular time period. That's all I was going at.

Station is rather nice, just is there any way you can make the entrance-way more.. detailed? It's not exactly what I mean, but it just 'stops' where the wall object stops. Im thinking some kind of deco piece could make it look a bit better.

Well, it is a fictional story line, so I'm thinking that having this logo is A-OK based on the whole fictional part of it.

In amusement park news, last year Swiss manufactures Bolliger & Mabillard unveiled a new style of roller coaster dubbed the “inverted coaster.”
Although similar to a suspended coaster presented by Arrow Dynamics back in the mid-80s, the inverted coaster has a unique track and train design that allows inversions.
Another unique sensation of the ride is that your feet are dangling below you.
The first of its kind, Batman: The Ride, opened last year at Six Flags Great America with great success.
Now more and more parks want inverted coasters installed at their parks.
Just this year, Paramount’s Great America opened Top Gun and Six Flags Great Adventure got its own Batman: The Ride. Next year Six Flags Magic Mountain will be getting its Batman: The Ride while Cedar Point in Ohio will be getting an inverted coaster, as well as Alton Towers in Europe.
Yesterday Park Execs from the Six Flags Monterey Bay park confirmed in a press conference that Batman: The Ride will be coming to the park in 1995 along with 3 other attractions and a new themed area dubbed “Gotham City.”

They said the new area of the park will be the largest expansion in the parks history.
It will span from the Castro Festival area all the way to the Old Stage Road area.
With this expansion the park will complete a full circuit of walkway.
The coaster itself will be built early next year, then the Gotham City construction will follow shortly after.
All four rides are expected to debut on opening day of the 1995 season, which marks the parks 15-year anniversary.

Hey guys!! Just letting you know that Gotham City is officially under construction.
Batman: The Ride is finally built, and now it’s just waiting for its station to be built for it.
Soon as that’s built, then the “city” part will start construction after.
Below are some pics of Batman after the construction.

What no park map? jk.. This park looks amazing! Just a suggestion. Try to hide all the food/drink stalls. Maybe a building for them. And the ride enterance signs. If i can remember you can get rid of those. Overall, it looks great!

Despite popular belief, Gotham City is much more colorful, especially in the interpretations seen in real theme parks.

On another note I really like what you've done to the queue of the ride, though it seems to much more.. terrain based in the real life counterparts.

Six Flags Monterey Bay celebrates its 15th year in operation with 4 new attractions and a new themed land.
Park enthusiasts gathered as early as 5am this morning to get their first ride on Batman: The Ride.
For the special occasion, the park opened at a special time at 7am this morning.
Batman, located in the Gotham City area is also home to 2 other mild attractions and a theater suited for all ages.
Gotham City was the largest expansion in the parks history spanning almost the length of Main Street and Old Stage Rd combined.
Speaking of Old Stage Rd, a rumor sprung up last year that an expansion will happen in that section in the park for next year, and when we were at the park this morning for media day, we did noticed a mine shaft attraction located in the Old Stage area.
When Park Execs were asked about the other new attraction, they said that it was planned to open later this year but the ride suffered some damage during the installation.
Let it be noted that no mine shaft attraction was listed in the park map.
Park Execs also stated that an expansion for Old Stage is possible and ideas are still up in the air.
We’ll keep you posted on that story.
Below is an updated park map, and pictures of Batman: The Ride with its first riders of the day.
Thanks for reading.

Six Flags held a press conference
yesterday evening and their announcement
confirmed the rumors of an expansion
to the Old Stage section of the park.
The park technically already has most
of the expansion done considering the
stretch of pathway between Gotham City
and the current Old Stage section and one
of the attractions already built this year
(still not open to the public).
Old Stage Road, home to the intense
Diablo and the family attraction Sky Tower
was the smallest area of the park.
That park section will gain four new
attractions but do not expect one of
them to be a new roller coaster.
Park Execs stated that they debated since
1993 on what should be the new big attraction
getter for the 1996 season.
Most people wanted a new roller coaster
but with the recent installment of
Batman: The Ride, they decided to go another route.
What did they decide the other route was?
Well if you didn’t notice anything by now
the park was lacking a certain kind of attraction.
What is that certain kind of attraction you may ask?
A water attraction!

A brand new water attraction will be added to
the Old Stage area for 1996!
Park Execs stated that the ride will be a log
flume ride and Arrow Dynamics will build it.
The ride will be the largest single attraction
built in the park and it will be the largest log
flume attraction in Northern California.
The water attraction is expected to open in
June of 1996 while the other 3 attractions will
open on opening day for next season.
Below is the attraction promo.

Hey guys! I have some updates for you today.
The park season was officially over last weekend
and now we are just closing up and putting things
away for the off-season.
Next year will be another big year for the park with the
Old Stage Road expansion.
But lets get to the bad news first shall we.
Not only there will be things added for next season,
but one iconic figure to the Old Stage area will
be removed indefinitely.

Do you guys remember Desmond the Demon??

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6466/sf0313.jpg (http://img529.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sf0313.jpg)

Management has decided to remove him from the Diablo ride due to a number of reasons.
The main reason is that last month one of our maintenance guys was working on the animatronic and something happened where a blaze of fire burned his right hand. The burns are not too severe but he is not happy. The reason why you didn’t hear about this in the news was because park management worked out a severance package right then to keep him quiet. A similar incident happened 4 years ago during testing when the animatronic glitched and spewed out extra fire that caused burn damage to one of the trains. No one was injured, but it was only a coincidence that Desmond was not operating that season. Another problem that Desmond had was the complaints of parents and religious groups that stated that the demon creature is too scary for young children and wanted it to be removed. These complaints date back to 1988 when Diablo opened. I hate complaints like these, its like you know the name is Diablo so why would you have your kids ride it to began with.
Anyway Desmond will be removed in the next coming weeks however the demon sound effects will still be present on the ride, so we can still since his presence.

Other than that, the other rides have been installed and the expansion is now complete. Below are some new pics of the expansion section. The park with the expansion will open on March 16th 1996, however The Salinas River Run will open on June 8th (they want to wait until it gets a little warmer to open it). Thanks for reading, Catcha Later!

Hey guys, I just heard a rumor that we possibly might be getting a new rollercoaster for the 1998 season.
The type of coaster and where it’s going to be located is unknown but we employees are really excited.
Since the rumor started, I started to do some research on the park’s history. If you guys can remember that we had another rollercoaster in the park years ago.
Shockwave was one of the first stand-up coasters in North America opening back in 1984.
The coaster was located where the Old Stage section stands today.
It operated from the 1984 season to the 1985 then was dismantled and moved to Magic Mountain where it operated there from 1986 to 1988 then moved to Great Adventure from 1990 to 1992 then moved to AstroWorld in 1993 where its operating as Batman The Escape.
I went through are archives yesterday and found old pictures of Shockwave during our 1984 season.
I posted them below. Enjoy, and I’ll keep you posted on the new rollercoaster.

No Diablo isn't gone. Shockwave was 4 years before Diablo. Shockwave was an actual stand-up coaster built by Intamin AG that opened in 1986 at Magic Mountain with the same color scheme. Just with my story line, it opened here first in 1984. Then it was dismantled in 1985 and Old Stage Road and Diablo took its spot.

Yesterday, Six Flags Monterey Bay announces The Joker.
It will be a launch coaster built by Premier Rides.
The attraction will be the tallest coaster built in Northern California
It will stand 238 feet tall and feature a launch from 0 to 70mph in 3.8 seconds.
It will also feature a unique element called a top hat and will have a vertical tower.
Coaster enthusiasts speculate that The Joker, based on the given ride stats, will be identical to Mr. Freeze found at Six Flags Over Texas.
The land where the ride is going to be has been prepped already and track pieces should arrive shortly.

Today is the big day, The Joker is finally open to mass crowds. At one point of the day the wait was almost 4 hours and the beginning of the ride started by the exit of La Vibora. In other park news, does anyone remember a post that was done back in 1990 about a mysteries body of water that was put in the park? Well after much speculation it has finally been conformed that the body of water will be home to a new themed area for the 1999 season called The Monterey Wharf. This new addition would be built on top of the ‘beach themed’ water area and will feature 4 flat rides and will also feature an aquarium attraction. Unfortunately for thrill seekers there will be no new rollercoaster for this area. Park Execs stated it could be possible for a rollercoaster to be constructed there in the future but not for the next upcoming season. Below are the media day pictures of The Joker. The Monterey Wharf will open to the public in March of next year with the rest of the park.

The new season is here, and it seemed that 1998 dragged on and on an on…
The new park section, Monterey Wharf, has opened to soft crowds. However the rest of the park has been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. I guess the public has spoken and want more thrills!!
Speaking of thrills I got some exciting news in the parks’ upcoming future.
Park Execs announced this week that the park will be expanding more and adding a new themed land for the new millennium with 5 new attractions. This new addition will gear more towards a family environment.
I’m guessing a “kiddy land” because this park lacks in that department.
The expansion already started November of last year and the working title is “Salinas Valley Fair” (not finalized though).
Now for you thrill seekers, The Park Execs announced that a new roller coaster would be added for the 2001 season.
(Now this is all hypothetical because of the Y2K scare, hopefully the world doesn’t end)
If it doesn’t, they described the coaster as being state of the art, with a unique storyline, special effects, and interaction with park guest.
As far as the location, they are keeping quite on it.
Below are the park map, pics of the Monterey Wharf section, and the new Salinas Valley Fair site.

Welcome To The New Millennium!!!
Well since Y2k didn’t happen and the world didn’t end, we are back for another season.
But this season is more special than all the rest because we are celebrating our 20th anniversary!!!
There are quite a few changes this season.
First off, the new themed area dubbed “County Fair” opened with SIX new flat attractions this season instead of the five that was proposed.
The new section attracted thousands of guests with families, which makes the Park Execs extremely happy about the new expansion.
The six new attractions are 101 Dodgems (bumper cars), County Fair Golf (up-charge attraction), Scrambler, Silly Fun House, Tea Cups, and River Ferry.
Also this season, the park now offers season pass tickets with 2 price points; one at $69.99 and the other at $99.99.
Details about the two are on the park map.
For locals that visit the park regularly, I suggest getting season passes because the park entrances fees had jumped $5.50 from last season and parking has increased from $8 to $10.
In other news, the roller coaster that was mentioned last year’s press conference is said to start construction in the next couple of months, which means that we might get to see the ride being built during the park season!
Park Execs still haven’t said what type of coaster or where it’s going to be.
However most of us employees were noticing a group of “important” people
scouting the land between “The Joker” and the “County Fair” mountain line. So if our theory is correct it might be placed in “Gotham City” which will make the 3rd coaster in this section in the park.
I’ll keep you posted on that.
Below is the special 20th anniversary park map and new pics of the “County Fair” section.

After years of not having a new coaster and months of speculation, construction has just begun on the parks new coaster!!
Last week the cement foundation has been pored.
The location that the employees predicted was correct so the coaster will be placed in Gotham City, which will make three coasters for this section. Promotion has already started on the ride posters of a tag line “Do you want to be a villain”, can be seen all over the park. Below are pics of the site location and the promo signs.

http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/791/sf0378.jpg (http://img38.imageshack.us/i/sf0378.jpg/)

Based on the tag line on this promo, it’s hard to say if the ride is based on a particular villain like “The Joker” or will you be a villain yourself. We also got to take into consideration the Park Execs did mention of the ride being somewhat interactive. So does this mean classic Batman villains will be involved? Only time will tell.
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/5990/villian.jpg (http://img32.imageshack.us/i/villian.jpg/)

In other park news, after being broke down most of the 2000 season, Park Execs have decided to place Diablo officially into rehab.
It is unknown when or if the ride will be open back to the public.
This ride has been open since 1988 so it’s overdue from some rest but hopefully not permanent.

The station and the brake run have been built!!!
It looks like is going to be a type of Wild Mouse coaster.
I’ve done some snooping around and got some more information about the ride.
It looks like the builders are Mack and the coaster is going to be a dark ride, which will make it Northern California’s first and only enclosed roller coaster.
As far as the name, I didn’t find anything out or anything about the interactive features.
I’ll keep digging for clues. Below is a pic of the station so far.

Coaster Update Pt. 4 2000

TIME: July 4, 2000
Source: Park Employee

It’s Independence Day! Our busiest day of the year!!
Park guests are getting excited over the new coaster coming next year!
About 1/3 of the track work is now complete.
The building structure should begin construction in the next week or so.
I was also able to get more information on the storyline of the ride.
It looks like there is going to be a preshow while waiting in the queue line. The entrance to the queue will be separated into 3 pacific queue lines at the start.
For what reason is unknown at this point.
Each queue is designated with 3 separate but similar preshow storylines.
After the 3rd show room, the queues combine into one giant queue that leads to the main attraction.
The coaster itself is also going to have an on-ride audio system with other special features yet to be determined.
Below is the latest picture I took.

Hey everyone!!
I got the latest scoop on the new coaster.
About 2/3 of the ride is now completed with most of the ride completely enclosed accept for the top portion which is still in construction.
I have some more news on the villains.
Even though 10 villains will be involved with the ride itself, the riders will only be involved with 4 villains depending on the queue section.
At the beginning of the queue, a ride attendee will place you and your party one of the 3 queues labeled X, Y, and Z giving 3 separate ride scenarios.
If your party is bigger than 4, you might be split into two separated queue areas.
Your party will meet up evenly in the giant queue room before the ride.
It is assumed that depending on what queue you get, you will interact with certain villains.
I also heard a rumor that the Joker will be involved in all 3 attraction scenarios.
Still no word on what the plot of the attraction is or what’s the riders roll in all this.
Below is a new pic I took.

The new rollercoaster is complete!!
The new attraction dubbed “Gotham Freeway Madness” will open its doors to the public on March 10th 2001.
I’ve gotten the scoop on the entire ride starting from queue to finish.
In the queue line you and your party will be placed into select queues.
The queue line names, (X, Y, and Z) are the names of the villains you represent; hence the tagline “Do you want to be a villain”.
So for example if you end up in queue Z, you are Villain Z.
As your villain you will interact with 4 of the 10 villains during the queue area.

In the first part of the queue is a dark alley where you will meet your first villain.
Villain X: The Riddler
Villain Y: Scarecrow
Villain Z: Two Face
They will tell you what your mission (the ride) is about. They will also tell you that your next villain will meet you at your place.

The second part of the queue is an apartment building where a package with a note is dropped off at your doorstep with a letter of further directions. The villain that is dropping off the package:
Villain X: Penguin
Villain Y: Bane
Villain Z: Mr. Freeze
The letter contains information of what’s in the package (weapons to take down Batman), along with the phone number to contact the next villain.
** It should be noted that Batman will not be involved in this ride.

The third part of the queue is dark lit room with a car (the coaster car) on display.
The villains that you will contact will be:
Villain X: Catwoman and The Joker
Villain Y: Poison Ivy and The Joker
Villain Z: Harley Quinn and The Joker
** It should be noted that The Joker is the ringleader behind all scenarios.
Here Catwoman, Poison Ivy, or Harley Quinn will tell you, that the package that was delivered to you needs to be delivered to them. They would tell you to take the freeway (roller coaster) to there hideout to complete the missions. They also tell you that the freeway is swarming with cops and to shoot them when you see them. The Joker will also tell you to not get caught and that if you fail, you will answer to him with his trademark laugh at the end of the message. They will remain on the phone with you during the ride for help.

Before you are mixed with other two queues into the final queue area, at the end of the third queue, a ride attendee will give you or a member of your party a special key card that represents the villain you are. While boarding the ride the key card gets handed to a ride operator, which places it in a designated slot in the back of the car. This feature turns on the onboard audio system for the ride. You will hear the voice of the villain that was present in the 3rd queue in your coaster car, and ask if you are in your car ready to go. Each passenger in the car is equipped with a mock version of a machine gun that will be used to shoot cop car targets that you will see during the ride. The villains you met in the 3rd queue will tell you to shoot at the cops as you pass them. Although its more of a laser gun, when you press the trigger a real sound of a machine gun will be heard on the speakers inside the coaster car. The ride will also keep track of how many cop targets you will hit; 1000 points per target. For an added bonus, if you see any other coaster cars on the track and you shoot the targets on their cars, that’s an added 25,000 points to your score. The final scores of your car will be tallied at the end of the ride with your accuracy rating, so don’t just have your finger on the trigger the whole ride.

So with that Six Flags Monterey Bay will have the first interactive arcade type roller coaster in the world!

Below are pics of the promo poster, and the outside building of the ride completed.

Hey guys, today is media day of the new coaster. We are really busy and I am actually going to be a ride operator for Gotham Freeway Madness this season. So I don’t have time to post any pictures of the new ride. Below is the newest park map. Check the newspaper tomorrow for the rest of the media day coverage. See ya’ll later!

Yesterday, Six Flags Monterey Bay unveiled it’s newest highly anticipated coaster this year, as well as brought another one back from the dead. Both Gotham Freeway Madness, and Diablo (closed all last season) opened to high volumes of crowds making it the parks busiest opening day in the parks history. Surprisingly Diablo had as long as a wait time as Gotham Freeway Madness throughout the day with an average wait time of 2 ½ hours! But most of this year’s excitement is for the newest coaster. As you approach a large building you can hear music blaring from the entrance of the ride. Once your inside you get placed into 1 of 3 rooms marked X, Y, and Z. We got placed in room X, so we got to be Villain X. In the first area we meet up with The Riddler on a TV screen and he told us what our mission is about. The next room we get a package delivered from the Penguin. The following room we got a phone call from Catwoman and The Joker they told us about the guns that were equipped in the car. As we went into the final queue, it was like a club scene with lights and lasers moving everywhere and music with a pumping bass lines. We load into the coaster car and we see the guns attached to each seat. Each seat had a score screen in front of it at every number starting at zero. As we ascended the lift, I felt this rush of excitement. As the chain let go of the car and we jolted to the left and the right we were on the lookout for cops, but the ride was so exciting it was hard to notice what was around us. As we approached our first cop car, Catwoman yells “SHOOT THEM!!”. We all started firing our guns at the cop car. There were so many twist and turns and cop cars along with hearing The Jokers laughs in the background. Before you now it you hit the break run with the cops catching you in the end. As we make it through the final break run to the station our scores got tallied up. I’m not giving you my score because it was rather embarrassing. The ride was more than what I have expected and well worth the 2 hours we waited for it. Below are some pictures of the coaster we got from our photographer.

It has been a little over two years since Six Flags Monterey Bay has installed a new ride.
Yesterday during a press conference, Park Execs announced that a new rollercoaster would be opening for the new 2004 season.
However unlike most announcements when they kept a low profile, they gave us all the goods about the ride.
The builder is a company called Reverchon Industries, which specializes on spinning coasters.
The coaster named “Wild Raging Rats”, will debut in March in the County Fair section of the park making it the first coaster in that section of the park, and also making it the first spinning coaster on the West Coast.
One Park Exec said that this ride “won’t disappoint” and “don’t be fooled by its small structure; it will pack a punch and make you hurl your lunch”. Interesting choice of words, he might have a career as a rapper if this job doesn't work out.
Park Execs stated that construction will start next month, so park guest and coaster enthusiasts get to watch this coaster being built.
Below is the new promo poster for the ride.

Uhm... I'm going to ignore that post. Not sure what you were going for there...

Gotham Freeway Madness looks pretty cool, but I would add more than just skyscraper walls and street lamps. I think it could use a lot more detail work, but overall it looks like a cool ride. I do like the park map idea, very creative.

So today is the big day for the new coaster.
Wild Raging Rats opened to modest crowds.

In other news, the parks senior coaster, Whizzer, has been placed into rehab after 24 years of consistent operation.
Ride Operators were reporting problems of trying to get the ride to operate last week.
This is the first major problem for the coaster.
Whizzer has been a reliable coaster since opening day back in 1980.
Plans of working on the Whizzer to get it open again may be harder than it seems considering Spiral Lift coasters are a defunct production leaving parts scarce.

CEO of Six Flags, Mark Shapiro, announced a list of parks that would be up for sale do to the recent declines in the economy.
Fortunately for us, Six Flags Monterey Bay is not one of them.
He stated he wouldn’t dream of closing the park down because it generates enough revenue to keep the park operating.
Shapiro is quite fond of that park and would like to continue expanding it over the years.
He announced that TWO NEW ROLLER COASTERS will be installed in the 2008 season.
With that said, he also stated that between now and then he wants to improve on the park atmosphere and make it more cleaner and more presentable.
One major improvement starting next season is park hours.
Six Flags Monterey Bay will be officially and all-year-round theme park with the park open for operation on Fridays through Sundays during December through February starting in March 2007.
When a reporter asked about the fate of Whizzer, Shapiro stated that they are still weighing all their options out for the coaster and remains optimistic about it.
As far as the two new coasters, one of them will be opened early 2008 while the other will open late summer early fall.

Hey everyone, so we are in the first ever winter season in the park, and it’s proving out to be a success.
We don’t have large crowds like the summer months but its very decent.
So today, blue track pieces were seen behind La Vibora!
Turns out that the one of the new coaster’s is not so new and it’s none other than Flashback from Six Flags Magic Mountain.
From what I heard, Flashback was in pretty bad shape so Six Flags commissioned Bolliger and Mabillard to repair the old Intamin AG coaster. Flashback will get new trains built by B&M and also they will repair all damage track and support pieces.
Some of the track layout will be modified to provide a smoother ride.
For example the Space Dives will count as full inversions turning riders 180 degrees before the dive down.
The large helix found at the bottom of the ride will be modified to reduce G-Forces.
So now and old coaster will feel brand new again!

The Joker has closed down this week also. It needed a quick rehab for a while now. It’s also getting a new train with an audio system installed. It will reopen in March; the same day as Flashback.

As of now, contrary to what the park map says, Whizzer still stands for now.
Demolition of the one of the parks oldest coaster begins in February of next year. The other new coaster will be built on that spot. Rumor has it, the coaster will be built by B&M.

Here’s a quick update.
The land area for Flashback has been cleared and concrete has been poured.
The ride should be completed by mid February around the same time Whizzer will be demolished.
In other construction news, I can conform that an amphitheater will be built in Gotham City for the 2008 season.
The amphitheater, Gotham City Arena, will open in the summer of ’08 and will have original shows such as “The Batman Stunt Show” as well as well as major concert venues.
Live Nation will take part ownership of the amphitheater and will put on shows by some of the biggest artists out there such as U2, Madonna, Jay Z, Shakira and Nickelback.

There are also some other minor changes in Gotham City as well.
In other awesome news, track pieces for Patriot have arrived and concrete has been poured where the station will be built.

We are about 3 1/2 months into the construction of Patriot.
A right-banked turn was built through the Loop after the Dive Loop.
Then a Zero-G-Roll was installed through the Dive Loop.
The rest of the ride is said to be during the night hours because a set of Interlocking Corkscrews will be built over the pathways of the park in between Merry-Go-Round and Chairswing.
I don’t know why but this track layout seems very familiar.
Can anybody else see any resemblances to another coaster?

Six Flags Monterey Bay opened Patriot to the masses yesterday.
This new addition adds a total of 10 coasters to their roster; that’s 2 more then their competing park California’s Great America.
Not to mention the rides here are more thrilling.
During media coverage earlier this morning, someone asked the General Park Manager what was in store for the 2009 season, and the GPM didn’t reply but had a large grin on his face.
So it must be something good happening, or is he bluffing?
Only time will tell.

Last night Mark Shapiro announced that Six Flags Monterey Bay will getting an Intamin AG coaster named Sidewinder for the 2009 season.
Sidewinder will be built in the Old Stage Rd. section of the park, which will make it its first new coaster in that park area since 1988’s Diablo.
The coaster will launch up a hill from riders from 0 to 55 in 1.5 seconds.
It will also feature swift twisting turns, sudden dives, and tunneling head choppers.
The coasters second drop is unique featuring a drop to the right 180 degrees then mid-way turn towards the left another 180 degrees making a shape of a giant reversing “S”.
Sidewinder opens April 18th of next year.

^^How is it a flaw if that's how he wants the park to be??

I'm all for constructive criticism or whatnot, (the buildings colors are a bit distracting, there's too much going on in that part of the park, etc) I just think some people take it a little too literally. Saying it has a CF park "feel" as opposed to a SF park, I mean, c'mon...

By the way VerticalElements, I'm stoked to see this coaster addition once its finished!

Hey everyone,

So it’s been about 3 months since my last post, it was a hard school semester, so I had to focus on that for a while. I am actually starting to work on a new park but before I continue on the new one I feel I must completely end this one.

So we are going to jump to the year 2011.
As of that year we have built:

Sidewinder – Intamin AG 2009
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/258/sf0526.jpg (http://img209.imageshack.us/i/sf0526.jpg/)

Fear Factor – S&S Arrow 4th Dimensional Coaster 2011

Final Park Map
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/6291/sfmbparkmap2011.png (http://img11.imageshack.us/i/sfmbparkmap2011.png/)

A couple of you asked about coaster POVs, so towards the end of last year, I made a POV for every major attraction the park has had from 1980 – 2011.
Starting from today, each day I will post a new POV. Once all videos are posted this park will be officially done, and I will start my new park.

So today’s video is Goldrusher, one of the oldest coasters in the park. Tomorrow’s video will be California Giant, Enjoy!!

Today's POV is of California Giant. It opened back in 1980 along with Goldrusher when the park opened. Over 20 years later it is still one of the parks largest and intense coaster. I didn't officially realize how intense it was until I made this POV. If it was real it might kill people LOL. Which ironically the intensity level that RCT3 gave this ride is a 7.5 and nausea is a 3; go figure. But enough blab, here it is. Tomorrow we have 1988's Diablo.

Hey everyone, today's coaster is Diablo. After the removal of Shockwave in 1985, The Park Execs utilized the area the ride once stood for a new section of the park called Old Stage Road. Along with that new section came a new suspended coaster. After 2 1/2 years of construction Old Stage Road and Diablo opened in 1988. Over the years the coaster has seen its controversy with religious groups and the removal of Desmond the Demon at the top of the lift. In the early 2000's the future of Diablo was unsure do to the frequent down time and it's rehab stint for a couple of seasons. However it bounce back and Diablo is still a park favorite among guest even with newer rides surrounding it. So with that said, here is the POV for Diablo. Tomorrow's POV is for La Fiesta (aka La Vibora). Enjoy......

Hey everyone, I'm glad you guys liking the video's so far. Today's POV is La Fiesta. Opening as La Vibora in 1990, the coaster was the first boomerang coaster in Northern California. It would have been the first boomerang in the west coast if it opened just 4 days earlier when Boomerang at Knott's Berry Farm opened down in Southern California just 3 days earlier. In 2010, the coaster received a new paint job loosing its red, black, and yellow color's that resembled a snake, to a bright purple and neon green. Along with the new paint job the name changed from La Vibora to La Fiesta. So here's the POV for La Fiesta. Tomorrow's video is of Batman: The Ride. Enjoy!!

Today's video is of Batman: The Ride. The ride opened in the Gotham City area of the park during the park's 15th anniversary. Enjoy!! Tomorrow's POV is for Salinas River Run.

**UPDATE** - I had a little mishap with youtube because I used the "Batman Returns Theme" in the video, so i just quickly changed the audio to a remixed version to avoid copyright issues. Sometimes I hate youtube. Anyway, here is the updated and surprisingly better version of the original video.

Today's video is of Wild Raging Rats. It opened in 2004 in the County Fair section of the park. Friends of mine that had seen the POV for the coaster earlier have gotten dizzy very fast, so if you have a weak stomach..... yep.... Tomorrow's video is for Flashback. Enjoy!!

Those are awesome! I like the way you built the Joker - I would have never thought of twisting down 180 degrees like that - very ingenious. I love the entire story of Gotham Freeway Madness. Very creative. The ride reminded me of a mix between TDK and Exterminator at Kennywood. Very well done. Very fun. The rat coaster is cool, too. Overall I love watching all your coaster POVs! Thank you for posting them!

Thanks guy's for the feedback, glad that you like them!!
Today's POV is for Flashback, based on the actual Flashback that was neglected at Six Flags Magic Mountain, this version is a slightly modified version of the original coaster. I actually still wished the original still existed though. I had a chance to ride it back in 97 when i was the right height for it but i was afraid of everything in my kid years so chickened out... Oh well.... Enough blab, here's the video. Tomorrow's is for the other coaster that opened in 2008, the Patriot. Enjoy!!

Hey guys! Today's video is for Patriot. The coaster opened in the late summer of the 2008 season where the coaster Whizzer once stood and operated for 24 years. Patriot is a B&M Floorless coaster that is an exact mirror image of Batman The Dark Knight found at Six Flags New England. Since it's opening, Patriot became the most popular coaster in the park until Fear Factor opened a couple of years later. Tomorrow's video is for the 2009 coaster, Sidewinder! Enjoy!

Today's video is for the 2009 coaster Sidewinder located in the Old Stage Rd section of the park. It's an Intamin AG style launch coaster, kind of similar to Maverick at CF. The coaster itself neighbors 3 other coasters (Diablo, California Giant, and Goldrusher) in close proximity. As you are on the coaster itself you really don't noticed the surrounding rides. Sidewinder is also very popular with family groups because of it's small size, and it also doesn't invert but still has a high-paced adrenaline rush for the coaster junkies that need it. The name "Sidewinder" derived from the coaster's unique "S" curved drop. So here's the video. Enjoy! Tomorrow's video is on 2010's X-Flight.

Sidewinder reminds me a whole lot of Maverick just without the inversions. Loved the first drop!!

^^ Maverick was my inspiration for Sidewinder, wished we had a ride like that on the west coast.

Alright, so today's video is for X-Flight. This is a custom Vekoma Flying Dutchmen coaster that opened in 2010. It's location in the park is up for debate as it's listed in the Monterey Bay (aka Monterey Wharf) section of the park, some may argue that it should be listed in the Old Stage Rd section of the park considering its close proximity to the other rides in that section of the park. Like most Vekoma rides, X-Flight can be pretty rough in some of the transitions. The coaster is not as popular as Park Execs hoped it to be. Well here's the video, enjoy!! Stay tuned for more tomorrow.

Hey everyone, today we have a "2 for 1" special for coaster POVs. The Vault Collection was created to give everybody a look at past coasters that were in the park; Whizzer which operated from 1980 - 2004, and Shockwave from 1984 - 1985.

- Whizzer opened in 1980 along with Goldrusher and California Giant when the park opened for business. It was a unique coaster with a spiral lift and bobsled style trains. By 1988, it was the only spiral lift coaster on the west coast. The coaster was very popular throughout its entire run but by the time the 2000s came around, some technical problems kept the ride from operating from time to time. By the 2004 season the ride was in SBNO status then was eventually scrapped in early 2008 for parts while the trains went to Six Flags Great America since they still have a spiral lift coaster in operation. After all traces of Whizzer was removed from the lot it once stood, construction began for a new coaster which eventually became the home for 2008's Patriot.

- Shockwave opened in 1984 was one of the first stand-up coasters in the US. Built by Intamin AG. The design of the "box-track" and four abreast trains were a precursor to B&M style coasters seen all over the world today. Due to the ride exchange program Six Flags was implementing at the time, Shockwave only operated for 2 seasons before it was moved to Six Flags Magic Mountain for their 1986 season. After the coaster was removed, construction became on what is now the Old Stage Road section of the park along with Sky Tower, and Diablo all occupying a spot where Shockwave once stood.

- Below are the two video's from The Vault Collection; the first being Whizzer, and the second for Shockwave. Enjoy!!! TOMORROW IS THE FINAL POV FOR...... Fear Factor.... Stay Tuned!!!!

Hey everybody!!! The final POV is for the last coaster installed in the park, Fear Factor. The coaster is a replica on X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The ride opened for the 2011 season and was instantly park guests most favorite ride in the park. Enjoy your ride!!!
