I just wanted to start this up again, because I'm finally getting a computer that can run RCT3 and I know I'm going to have questions for all of you RCT3 experts that are on here.

So, here's my first question: What do I need to get in the way of custom scenery or add-ons that will make the game more realistic?

^ It seems my work here is never done, lol.

Honestly, that list was more-a-less unless. RCT3 CS sets are consistently changing and impossible to track without selling your soul to the Atari Community. I’m at school and can’t access the Atari Forums but while I’m at home this evening I’ll post some links to complete CS lists that are regularly updated. :)

What RCPro really needs is a database that hosts all the CS sets. Ohh… Steve! ;)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

I've got another thing for you guys.

When I am trying to place scenery, especially roof pieces, my computer will crash the screen goes black and I can't get out of it without rebooting. I've messed with the graphics settings and set them to maximum performance and it still does it. I don't think it's may graphics card, because it is a NVIDIA GeForce with 128MB videoRAM, so it should be above the minimum and recomened requirements .

Do you guys have any suggestions?

If you're not using CS, and it tries to crash, look for new drivers. Also, are you on Vista or XP? Vista has been known to crash on occasion. (Ending my sarcasm)

If it's CS, use an alternative set if possible.

Nope, I'm using the regular roof pieces.


If you're not using CS, and it tries to crash, look for new drivers. Also, are you on Vista or XP? Vista has been known to crash on occasion. (Ending my sarcasm)

I'm running Vista, but this more than just occasionally, I will look for new drivers, it should be this, because the computer is brand new from Dell.

I need help with a problem installing the game could anyone help me with this? It would be greatly appreciated. I currently have rct3 gold and when I try to install it and it says this "Cannot install rct3 is not installed" if anyone can help me just send me a message or post in this thread.

Does RCT3 Gold have multiple discs or is it just one disc? If it is two discs, make sure you are using the one that has the original RCT3 game on it, if there is only one disc, make sure you are trying to install the original RCT3 game, not the expansion pack. Hopefully this helps, I don't have the RCT3 Gold, so I don't know how it works exactly. *Ignore this, do what Max suggests bellow*


By the way, I'm pretty sure that updating my graphics card's driver fixed the shutting down problem. Thanks for the help apsterling.

^^ Take it back to the store and purchase RCT3 and any expansion packs individually. RCT3 Gold is bugged and conflicts with any installed Custom Scenery.

Max, do you know what stores still sell the games individually? The only place I've been able to find them is on the internet.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and both expansion packs are all available individually from Wal-Mart's website (http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&search_query=Rollercoaster+Tycoon+3&ic=24_0). If it’s not already available in store, order online and it’ll be delivered to your local Wal-Mart with free shipping and handling.

O.K. That was the only place I could find them and they said they couldn't send both of the expansion packs to my local store, just Soaked, but I'll check it again. Thanks for the help Max.

I purchased the game in October of last year so I can't return it and it only came with one disk. But thanks for the suggestions.:D

OK in what CS pack can you get these fences? They seem to be everywhere, and I dont know how to get them! Help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I'd also like to know where I can get those different coloured lights (green/red/blue etc etc).

IT does run on vista as i have it, and its awsome, and even parks that i downloaded like six flags magic mountain run perfectly!

It runs fine on my Vista laptop..

I think those fences are in one of the Main Street sets. not suer though, I do know ther are colorable.

I have RCT3 Platinum and it works fine, I have a lot of CS installed...

Just thought I'd post that so y'all know that you don't have to buy the expansion packs separately.

I had the same thing happpen to me Max, I had to stop a project half way through because of an error with the downloaded scenery when I was using Gold.

Hey I have a question on rct3 and vista. I just got a new HP laptop for christmas and I installed rct3 on it but when I actually run the game it gets past the frontier opening video but then after that the screen goes white? if anyone could help, thank you very much.

I'm having a problem with my RCT3 Platinum. Whenever I click on the icon to play the game, it gives me this message:

It never did this before. The game doesn't even start anymore. I click on the icon on my desktop to play the game, the screen goes black for a second or two, and I get this message. I was thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling it to see if that would work, but I thought I would check here first. What do you guys think?

Usually I get that screen with a variety of applications, and I just try again and it works. It could have been a result of using trainers, but if it doesn't work, I'd suggest backing up all your tracks and parks and reinstalling it.

I've tried again a bunch of times, but it gives me that error every time. So I think I will just back up all my parks and tracks and reinstall. Thanks for the help. :)

I get that all the time too (although I thought I was the only person left in the world who actually uses rct3 anymore; stupid NL! :) ) This usually happens to me when my computer has been running slow or, mysteriously, when I try to put in any special supports (cs). Any help on the CS problem?

Okay I have a CS question and need your help! I have heard that the reason my computer crashes everytime I try to put a big object in (Space Mountain dome) is that the shadow is to big and that I need to turn it off. How do I do that?

Go to Options, Click the view options, and change the shadows. You can change it from Dynamic to Static or turn them completely off.

The only reason I can think of for it to say that is that somehow you right clicked on RCT and tried to open it with Visual C++. If you want to delete it you would have to check with the other people that use taht computer. If it is the corporation version then you probably wouldn't want to delete it as that costs money to get. If it is the free version I'd say go ahead and delete it as someone would have had to download it to get it. I would be 100% sure that no one needs it first though as it might delete saved files.

You have to use the CTR creator. I tried a couple of times but I failed miserably. You should be able to get it here. http://ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=699600. I'd also suggest googling some tutorials as they do have some good ones out there.
