View Full Version : World Coaster Draft

Eclipse

The actual draft will be taking place Here (http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/community/showthread.php?p=3296#post3296)

Here's the list of rules:

-Players have 12 rounds to make the most well-rounded park. The order will be selected randomly and will reverse at the end of each round.

-Players will have 24 hours to make their pick; once the player has made the pick or 24 hours has passed, the next player may make their pick. If you do not meet the deadline, than your pick will be skipped until the end of the draft, which then is when you can makeup your pick. If you miss atleast 3 picks, you will be disqualified and your picks will be put into the Pool.

-The Pool will be compromised of picks that a disqualified person has made. Once the picks are put into the Pool, they are available to everyone and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you happen to miss a pick and there are picks available in the Pool, you may makeup your missed pick with a coaster in the Pool.

-I will also ask that nobody makes suggestions for coasters people should pick. It's not fair to other members and such posts will be deleted.

-When making a pick, a post should contain the full name of the coaster. Abbreviations for parks will be allowed as long as they are exact.

-About making trades: For trades to be official, both sides need to officially agree to the trade by posting here saying that you either announce or confirm the trade in question.

Here's the list of coasters that are eligable:

-All coasters must be operating. (includes coasters experiencing minor breakdowns or minor rehabs)

-Coasters that are no longer standing or not running this year are not eligible. (includes coasters being relocated or coasters experiencing a major rehab)

-A coaster under construction cannot be picked until it is running and open to the public.

-A coaster can only be picked once; once it is selected, no one else may select it again.

"Your Name" = your turn to pick
$= coaster is on the trading block
X = missed pick

I do not have the time to compete in that 24 hours, but I am very interested in Judging :) If you'd need anyone, I am available for a spot.

I'll join the draft. I could also judge if you don't get enough people to judge, but I'd prefer to be part of the draft.

Count me in as a player. If you need any help contact me.

I dislike the idea of having judges, could be very biast, ad as you can see with the Summer Showdown, there are problems getting multiple judges to get all their information in. Why can't we do a public vote like always?

Jake
11-02-2007, 01:21 PM
^ I agree, we should make it a public vote instead of judges.

rcwhiz
11-02-2007, 02:22 PM
I'd like to be a player. Also is there any prize if we win like there was I believe last time we did this? I agree with thedeadfrog also about the judges not thats it a terrible idea but after whats happened with the summer showdown I don't know if thats good.

Or we can get judges that we know to be reliable...

j/k j/k

Otherwise we'll have the contestents voting in the polls. and if there are going to be this many people playing, that is a HUGE percentage of the votes. And that would mean much if not most of the votes would be people voting for themselves. Just thought I'd point that out : /

Well the only reason why I think judging would be the best is because in past drafts, we had problems with people voting for the park with the best coasters. That's not what were looking for, were looking for parks with a well-rounded selection of coasters. Thats why I think judging would be the best. The judges would know what to look for and because there are three of them, they can each have their own perspective on each park. But seeing as this is a game that involves everyone, we can switch the format if majority rules.

As far as prizes are concerned, there are none for now. I am just a normal forum member like you guys and I have no authority to offer any prizes. But if you guys want, maybe we can talk to some of the mods about this.

I see there's one spot left...could you sign me up for the judging position? I'm not really good at the whole 'make your own park' thing. Could someone PM me with the specs for the judges, please (if they could sign me up?)? Thanks.

EDIT: Shweet-thanks!

Nate

You pick coasters in a fantasy draft style, and then once all the picks are done, the judges decided with person has the most well rounded selection.

I still not understanding the functionality behind having judges. It’ll complicate the voting process and make it a bias battle… not to mention some people don’t/can’t make the commitment to the lengthy draft process and would still like to participate by voting.

Not to mention that (no offense guys) I'd like to see more professional members as judges, if we must have them of course. I would much prefer Ryan Sickles, Sirloins, Max's or Mikes to judge as they have a more professional opinion, not to mention more impressive coaster counts. Again, no offense to the current judges.

Eclipse
11-06-2007, 06:54 PM
then we will let the people decide! Go vote in the poll, you have only two weeks.

Michael
11-06-2007, 06:59 PM
^^ I know I'm biassed sometimes , but I do know what good coasters are. I am completley eliminating opinion from this, and going by what makes the ride good (in terms of layout, theme, ect.) Surprisingly, I'm not as big a CF fan as you think :p

I would gladly put coasters like Kumba, Montu, or Griffon ahead of a crappy CF ride, lol.

because in all seriousness, what would a judge get out of being biassed? Absolutley nothing, so no one has a reason to be biassed on their judging.

Maxamillious
11-06-2007, 08:10 PM
^ I think your missing the point. It’s in your nature to be biased. The objective behind this Coaster Draft is to create a well-rounded, appealing park. You want someone to have a biased preference towards your line up.

^Your just jealous Maxy ;)
j/k j/k j/kMe? Jealous? Ha! I’m a straight up KD Fanboy! A little ToGo named Shockwave pwns Apollo’s Chariot anyday. ;)

Just to inform everyone who is involved in this thing, I may have to drop out, simply because I can not access RCPro at my house (I'm at my church right now).

Is there anyone who would like to take my place if I do have to drop out? There is no guarantee this is possible, it is up to Eclipse to decide if this can happen, but I figured I would throw this out there while I have access to RCPro. If you are interested send me an e-mail at rcmtheii[at]user.rollercoasterpro.com and let Eclipse know too.

^Never mind, Steve and Ryan figured everything out for me, so I now have access to RCPro from my home. So I'm definitely still in this.

2 more days to vote!!

Comet
11-18-2007, 02:08 PM
I don't think it's right to have a public poll.
It'll end up being who has the most extreme coasters over who has the best rounded park, like it's supposed to be.

Dan
11-18-2007, 02:12 PM
But the people that would have judged are the people who vote...plus more people. I think this has been done before...what if only participating members voted, but they couldn't vote for themselves?

Michael
11-18-2007, 02:13 PM
^That's impossible to do through the forums : (

Dan
11-18-2007, 02:15 PM
Participants can PM someone, then. Or post their choice.

Eclipse
11-18-2007, 02:39 PM
I got an idea. How about the judges sort of give their comments at the end of the draft for who they think should win.

Or maybe we can make the judges choice count as a certain percentage of the votes.

Comet
11-18-2007, 03:15 PM
Or maybe we can make the judges choice count as a certain percentage of the votes.

Yeah, that sounds good.

Jake
11-18-2007, 05:16 PM
Meaning no offense to any of those judging, but I don't see why their votes should count anymore than ours. What makes them so special? There were no other requirements to be a judgee, all they had to do was ask to become one.

You guys are making this way too hard, just open up a public poll, and be done with it.

Eclipse
11-18-2007, 05:54 PM
Well based on the poll, it looks like thats how it will be.

Eclipse
11-21-2007, 01:59 PM
Ok so it has been decided. Everyone will get to vote! Just remember guys, your voting for the most well-rounded park, not the park with the best roller coasters

Michael
11-21-2007, 02:12 PM
How will the voting be setup? through PM's or through a poll?

Eclipse
11-21-2007, 05:00 PM
I think a poll will do just fine. But we will let the judges give their opinion of which park they feel is their choice (maybe to try and help you make your decision)

MaverickManJZ
01-07-2008, 08:54 PM
