What is the most you have ridden a coaster without stopping?

My record would be 29 rides on Viper at SFMM back in 05. My friend (non enthusiast) and I rode from about 4 till about 6 pm (only getting off when someone was in our row, and taking a empty seat [it was dead]). We stopped after 200 inversions (203) total...

20 rides on GhostRider: No lights, No Trims at Solace 2008 over the course of 2 hours...

Riddlers 17 times at night with Alex.

15 on GL at SFAW.

S:TE 10 times with Alex.

Ghostrider during Solace 07... Maybe 10 rides that night?

Goliath 8 times in the morning.

Anyway, what is your record?

My record for coaster marathoning is 4 rides in the front row on Kong (SFDK) at night. Kong is weird, it will either be really busy or really dead at the end of the day.

My second would be 3 times in the back row on Top Gun (CGA) right before closing. This one was a lot of fun, the helix over the lake is really cool because of the lights reflecting off of the water.

17 rides on Xcelerator, followed by a hour long break, then I took 12 more. 29 total rides.

12 rides on sooperdooperlooper. :) Also I've done 6 in a row on Roller Soaker, 7 times for Roller Soaker, and 7 times on Tidal Force (the big water ride next to Roller Soaker; twice being the only person in the entire boat. :p).

35 times on Wildfire at SDC

Back in the spring of 2005, I got to visit Silver Dollar City for a couple days. Well, since Powder Keg usually had a 1 hour + wait, we hit Wildfire non-stop to see how many times we could ride it. Not going to lie, it was hardcore thrills, I have never had this much fun. By the end of my two day epic, I had ridden it 35 times, went upsideown 175 times, and pushed my body to the breaking point. I had bruises and cuts on my shoulders from the constant riding and g's. My face was windburned, and I was dehydrated, and I needed rest badly. But it was worth it :D

Definatley a must for any coaster enthusiast, you really get to know the ride and what it's about. You noice things that most people wouldn't, and you get to know the ride ops, it's always a great experience

Lets see I had one day of Xcel 28 times and another 32 times. Then I rode Goliath 12 times in a row. Those Xcel rides were crazy.

Wildfire is honestly one of my favorite coasters with amazing air on the first drop and a very good first immelean on the first inversion. Short ride, but definitly packs a punch. I only went on it 6 or 7 times when I went to SDC back last year.

Anyways, my record is 10 straight times on The Demon at Six Flags Great America without even leaving the area. It gave me a small headache but that is actually very good for a 30+ year old Arrow Looper.

30 straight laps on Joker's Jinx at SFA. Non-stop after a T-storm. I believe Batwing opened up and the few people left in the park went to it. I didn't much care to join them, and Superman remained closed for the night for whatever reason, so I thought I'd go for as long as I could on Joker's Jinx. 30 laps later, I was quite the satisfied customer. And that's non-stop, friends. The only time I ever left the train was to switch rows. Never had to go back around and through the line or anything.

I have around the 15 range on Boulder Dash, Nitro, and El Toro...I had to get off and walk around but never waited except for a train to get to the station.

Most without getting off was 3 Tidal Forces.

My record would be 39 times on Mulholland Madness and 32 times on California Screamin' (back when there were no trims :D), both sets in a row, all in one day. This was back in I believe 2003, before Space Mountain closed for it's 2-year rehab.

I also marathoned MaliBOOMer that day, but only was able to get 9 rides in until I started getting a headache.

I have a pretty sad past when it comes to continuous riding. Someone either comes into my row, or my group wants to leave. Flashback at SFMM (yes, Flashback) - 4 continuous rides. When I was there in 2001 there was nobody but us on the ride or anywhere nearby. I am really going to miss that ride. The closest I have come since then is 2 re-rides. Last spring at SFMM my brother and I got 2 continuous rides on Goliath - SFMM right before the park closed. Then this summer when I was down there, my mom and I rode Ninja twice at night without getting off. Obviously I have some work to do on re-rides. Hopefully ERT sessions can help change this next summer. :D

About 25 non-consecutive rides on Thunderation at SDC, it was before I was an enthusiast, so it was the only credit of the trip, I was too scared to ride Wildfire then. I'm kicking myself for passing up a B&M....

Next closest would probably be about 10-15 night rides on Ghost Rider, Solace 07 baby!

^Exactly.

If I were to guess, something like 18 or 19 rides on Revenge of the Mummy @ USF...then the line started picking up. That's really the only coaster I'd want to marathon. I think most rides loose their novelty when you overdo it.

I know the man above me will kill me for saying this, but I marathon-ed Shivering Timbers 22 times when I was a younger kid, with my mom and my sister alternating rides with me. Its a good ride to Marathon because it doesn't really beat you up much, but its a constant flowing sensation...

The next best thing I have to Shivering Timbers would probably be something at Geauga Lake, although I'm not exactly sure how many consecutive times I rode their roller coasters...

How did you not herniate a disc in your spine riding ST that much? ...or was this before it went to the trash?

Me, I've also marathoned Space Mountain over 10 times, and that was on v.1977...

I just remembered! We rerode Greesed Lightnin at Six Flags Astro World about 15 times! It was our first ride of that type, and the line was empty. (the winch house was also about 150* inside :p). We would of ridden more, but there were more credits to get (we didn't have enough time for Viper, and skipped it :().

How did you not herniate a disc in your spine riding ST that much? ...or was this before it went to the trash?

I rode ShivTims 10 times when I visited in August, about 8 or 9 of those were consecutive rides. It's far from a trash ride. It wasn't what it was made out to be, but still, far from "trash".

What counts as a marathon? Riding a ride and getting back in line, or staying on the ride for consecutive laps?

Griffon 25-30 times(I was apparently the only one who knew about the single rider line, and I used the cut in the exit so I didnt miss a train...Later they closed the single rider line for no apparent reason...)

They do that. Then they reopen the line for another 10 minutes before closing it again. If they allowed it to stay open, it would be rendered useless after just minutes, because most people flock to it, fill it up, and wait just as long as they would in the normal line, if not longer.

Once again, I just remembered another time! (Im sure pain killers has something to do with me forgetting...)

Alex and I rode Riddlers from 8 till 9:30, in every row. We got 17 rides in total...

^^^^^, I think it is how many times you can ride without getting off. Rerideing the same train in a different row is ok. If you can go around the line and get on before the same train you were on last (it has to be a walk on), thats ok too... (imo)

I thought it was the number of re-rides without leaving your seat. If that's not the case and includes getting out and right back on, them my record would be about 10 times on Greased Lightnin at Great America back in 2002.

I rode Boulderdash around 30 times in a row. After about the 15th ride my friend and I got tired off screaming and putting our hands up but we didn't feel like getting off and going to another ride so we just kept riding to pose for the pictures and got off I think two or three times to see our pictures but then we just got right back on. Man I love Pfizer Day.

Until you actually ride the roller coaster, your post holds no credibility. I know you guys like to say what Ryan says, but in all seriousness, try experiencing things before you decide to make assumptions. You might end up eating your words once you diversify your list outside of just Ghost Rider, Colossus, and Psyclone...

Anyways, I don't think I've ever marathon-ed the Florida roller coasters before, because I usually just make my rounds and ride everything once or twice just to get things in. I find it more gratifying to experience everything, rather than focusing my attention on one roller coaster. I think the only real reason I got to ride Timbers as much as I did was because there really isn't anything else at Michigan's Adventure worth riding.

Ditto on you and ST. Maybe you've ridden something with real airtime other than GCI? ...because Tremors and Timber Terror are in my backyard.

I might as well add these to the list. I never really though of adding them since I never keep real count every time I go to Vegas. Anyways, everytime I go to Las Vegas, I always marathon Canyon Blaster at the Adventuredome, Speed The Ride at the Sahara, and Manhattan Express at New York-New York.

Last time I was in Vegas, I hit every row on Manhattan Express in a row, just to see which row would offer the most smoothest ride with the new Premier trains. (And for those wondering, those would be Rows 1 and 7. :))

As for Speed The Ride, I dont think I ever go past 10 times. Marathoning a continous circuit coaster is one thing, but marathoning a shuttle with inversions is a whole 'nother ballgame for the stomach.

And as for Canyon Blaster, I think I've only gone 5 times in a row, since, it gets pretty boring after a few go-arounds, not to mention you need some asprin or tyonel after marathoning CB.

Ha ha, Dan, riding in every single row on Silver Bullet, we rode it so many times that we could have an insane conversation throughout the ride, not really noticing the Ride until we hit the helix.

The most I have done consecutive was when I was on Medusa (at SFDK) for 7 times in a row. The line was short and we were able to rush on every 2nd train. It is great to go to SFDK on a Summer weekday (preferably Monday). During that day, I rode it about 20 times.

If you count the "non coaster rides", it would be that Grizzly River run at Disney's California Adventure when there was no line at all. I think I went on it 8 straight times. The only reason I did that was because there was burning 90 degree weather.

I could have stayed in my train on Demon but after 3 rides, my neck was gonna be sore if I went on more.

Do you have to be part if a special group or pay extra or something to do that? Because, when one goes to amusement parks, there tends to be lines behind them. My friend and I got lucky once at Busch Gardens, we got about five or six runs on Gwazi Tiger at the end of the day when everyone was leaving. However, outside that I'm pretty much restricted to one ride at a time.

R.C.
11-20-2007, 05:20 PM
^That is basically how you have to do, unless you go to a special event at a park. I've never been to a club event, but I have gone to SFDK on several days where the park was extremely empty so I was able to get several consecutive (Not leaving my seat) rides on every coaster at SFDK.

You also have to be able to do a handstand while doing a 3 legged race in japan. After you complete this mission you may then marathon coasters. I know it seems really difficult (and it is, trust me) but it's all worth it.

But seriously. Just go to a park on a weekday in the off season (if your park is open during it) and you'll be all set.

I marathoned a small, exceedingly rough woodie called Cannonball Run http://www.rcdb.com/id360.htm at Waterville USA in Gulf Shores Alabama an hour or so away from home, which is the only coaster within about 300 miles ever since Miracle Strip went out of business.

I loaded up on candy, sweets, and greasy undercooked pizza before riding this 10 times in a row. I actually PUKED! I had bruises everywhere, I really don't have motion sickness except for seasickness on long fishing trips, so this was a first for me.

12 times without getting off was on Kingda Ka. Only reason was because they held the line, so people couldn't get to the station. My shoulders were so bruised after the 7th time. But kept going, was really fun.

Another marathon I had was 59 times without going on another ride was on Cyclone. But they force you to get off the ride after its done, but me and my friend kept going on right after we got off. (This was when their Bracelet allowed unlimited rides on Cyclone)

SkyDiver is SO! much better of a ride to marathon. No one goes to the park so their is really never a line for anything (except for the go karts and rarely the bumper boats and splashdown log flume ride). Last time I went their (Labor Day) only went on Desert Storm once, not that great of a coaster, plus no matter how short the line is (usually the only ones in the station, they usually have to either wait or when the ride is over, make us go around again).

Stupid CnC!

Also, there is no other way to do CnC then go to Bashas/Safeway whatever it is called, get the discount, and get $15 all day ride passes. That's the way to hit up CnC, Arizona's Greatest Ghetto Park!
