At Dollywood the Holiday Season is still called "Christmas" and religion is a staple figure at the park. Be sure to see the Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival! ...and maybe a little Mystery Mine action in this winter wonderland.

Thanks!

Sorry about the quality of the photos. My camera lens kept fogging up because of the weather, so I had to turn up the contrast to try and get some sort of focus.

Great update, Ryan!

The park looks great, although it would take a lot to get me outside in weather that cold.

Great update Ryan. I really do want to get out there some day, the park looks beautiful. The good thing about cold weather is you can always put more layers on compared to the heat where you are stuck. I think that would be perfect weather to go to a park, since I love the cold its perfect. I had no idea it was even open still that was a surprise. Mystery Mine looks quite fun.

Aaahh, it's almost embarrassing how close I got to this park but didn't get to go in.

It really is a gorgeous park.

Nice pics! I didn't know Mystery Mine was also part dark ride. It's surprising the coasters are even open even in the 30's. Are they also open for the December Christmas Festival?

It starts out as a dark ride, then goes into the first vertical drop and other elements, comes back into the second part of the dark ride, then the second over 90* drop and finale. There isn't a detailed storyline per se, like Revenge of the Mummy, but there is a common theme that's played out through both dark parts of the ride.

The coasters are open for the entire festival. The thing is the park won't run them at 36 degrees or colder (stuff starts acting up that cold)...eventhough I'm almost positive it dropped under 36 degrees later on in the evening. When they were doing the first tests on Mystery Mine, a few of the empty trains would literally just make it over the top of the half loop-I thought I was going to see a valley. Once it started getting warmed up and people got in it picked up a lot of speed.

I was surprised that it wasn't nearly as rough as I was expecting. There are a few parts where you need to remember so you don't jab your neck, but overall it wasn't bad. I also noticed a few cars had different wheel setups, so I'm sure the park was trying to figure out a good wheel combination and what works in the winter. This could explain why I had a few choppy rides (the lesser setup). I'd like to reride it one day in the spring or summer to see how it's improved.

Ryan, just out of curiosity, have you ever seen a valley? You sounded a bit dissapointed, lol :p Just curious.

But again, great upate, I really really enjoyed the pictures :D

As said, nice update Ryan. (BTW, thanks for having me check over it before posting ;)) Maybe someday when I'm out east, I'll go to this park. Tennessee Tornado and Mystery Mine both look like great coasters. Can't forget Thunderhead either...
