Heroes to Disney: What about us?
Disneyland learned the old adage is true: No good deed goes unpunished.
Starting on Nov. 13, the Anaheim theme park offered a free three-day Park Hopper admission to Southern California firefighters, police officers and rescue workers as a way of saying thank you for their valiant efforts during the recent wildfires.
But Disney’s Wildfire Heroes Salute limited the offer to Southern California emergency personnel living in ZIP Codes 90000 to 93599.
After an outcry from overlooked heroes in Northern California and neighboring Western states, Disney extended the freebie to all rescue workers with valid identification.

Through Feb. 28, 2008, eligible emergency personnel — regardless of ZIP Code — can purchase up to five additional three-day Park Hopper tickets to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure for family and friends at $56 apiece (a deep discount from the usual $139-$189 admission).
Block-out dates: Dec. 8-9, Dec. 25-Jan. 6 and Feb. 15-17.

Through Dec. 21, Universal Studios Hollywood is also offering free one-day admission to active and credentialed Southern California firefighters, police officers, paramedics, Red Cross workers and 911 personnel. The offer includes half-price admission for up to six relatives or friends.
