The unthinkable just happened today. Kennywood is no longer a family owned, Pittsburgh based company. Kennywood and all other parks owned by Kennywood Corporatin have been sold to a company in Spain. A very sad day for Pittsburgh IMO.:(

My guess is that this was done to jump-start the proposd expansion and new "major attraction", most likely a coaster. KP is know for staying out of debt, but also never has the money to add major coasters like many competing parks. I am very hopeful that this will not end up like GL.
In the end, I feel that the park sold out. The Henningers were always very proud to call KP and family owned company. If the park gets a new coaster in the next few years, awesome. But if KP's charm and uniqueness is disturbed, I and many KP lovers will be very very angry.:mad:
