So here's my park. IMO, it's the best out of all the others. Why? Take a look at my coasters. Best out of their category and could fit the best collection in a well rounded park.
Intamin Woodie: El Toro. Um....it's Toro! THE master of ejector air, claimed to be the best wooden coaster in the world by mannnnyyyyy enthusiasts.

http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/3259/800pxeltorozo2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
B&M Custom Inverted: Phaethon. It's the new B&M custom. Comeplete with an insane layout; loop, zero g, cobra roll, 2 banked and messed up helices, and corkscrews. It's claimed to be the 'new' old school B&M.
Video if you're bored! - http://tvpot.daum.net/v/3140916
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/6080/p20363nx3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Intamin Rocket Coaster: Superman Escape. It's the infamous accel. from down under. It's like a Rita on roids. Oh...and did I mention it has a theme and onride pre show? Top hat, airtime, laterals.

http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/5645/p20715pp4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
B&M Hyper Coaster: Golitah. Not the Canadian one, the good one. Infact, it's claimed to be the perfect B&M hyper. Airtime all over, downward helix, hops over the highway, comfortable B&M trains...what more do you want? Oh yeah...no trims allowed.
Video if you're bored! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waBvJEBGGk0
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/8623/p15611ss9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Intamin Aqua Trax: Atlantis Adventure. This is a complex, unique, awesome coaster. Coaster...small dark ride mix. But it has it all. A *great* themed area, inside and out. Good enough for Disney or some other cool place....they wish they had this coaster. It has a launch, indoor top hat, water spashes, and a lift hill. Deffinately a MUST ride.

http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/9063/p8133ii6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
B&M Custom Sit Down Coaster: Dragon Khan. It's an old school B&M boasting an impressive eight inversions. Claimed to be the best B&M sit down out there, or matching to Kumba.

http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/808/p1445jp8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
GCI Wooden Coaster: Kentucky Rumbler. It's found in a small park in southern Kentucky, and oh boy is this coaster a treat. It's packed with the GCI twisting drop, "GCI 2 airtime", crazy turns, swing arounds, and a little pre lift meandering. Not too tall, no too fast.

Maurer Söhne Custom Spinning Coaster: Dragon's Fury. It's hidden in Chessington's World of Adventures in Europe, and packs a punch. This coaster has everything from the spinning coaster and more. The 90* horseshoe, airtime, and helices. It's the perfect wacky family adventure!

http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/9743/p9935lt4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Intamin Motocoaster: Mick Doohan's Moto Coaster. It's another coaster from the down under. Intamin's only motocoaster at the time; it's perfect for the coaster enthusiast who doesn't like hights. At a top speed of 43, you get a great expeiance on this coaster.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4339/p20714bb9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Mack Bobsled: Trace Du Hourra. Found in Germany, this bobseld comes with helices and cave men! Well, for a theme that is, becuase I guess they had a good old time back then. This is the perfect family coaster, no sudden drops; just gradual decents.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/3175/p12210kp2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Sorry Zach, but Jake got mine. You were in a close second in my opinion.
Why?
Voyage (HW) - So far, I've heard this is an el torro killer ;)
-Goliath (WW) - One of the best Intamin Megas out there, it has air, drops, turns, and speed.
-Kumba (BGA) - possibly the world's best sit-down? Maybe, but it's a terrific coaster.
-Matterhorn (DL) - Do I need to say it? It's a great ride for all ages, the theming is phenominal as well.
-Mr. Freeze (SFOT) - a classic thriller.
-Top Thrill Dragster (CP) - one of the tallest, fastest rides on the planet, need I add more?
-Batman: TR (SFMM) - classic, a well renouned coaster that has it all.
-Big Thunder Mountain (DL) - Again, a classic coaster for all ages.
-Euro-Mir (EP) - One of the most famous coasters in existence, it has it all.
-Thunderbird (PP) - Another GCI masterpiece, it's compact and fast, something you don't usually find.
-Riddler's Revenge (SFMM) - One of the best standups out there, this really put the icing on the cake for me.
-Goldrusher (SFMM) - No explanation needed.
What I think many people missed were the kiddie rides and the classic rides that add that touch of what everyone needs at an amusement park. That's why Jake won for me. Good job, very well thought out! :D

I still don't understand what's so great about Kumba...aren't Medusa/Scream basically floorless copies? With a different drop direction, of course.

I still don't understand what's so great about Kumba...aren't Medusa/Scream basically floorless copies? With a different drop direction, of course.
Alot of it has to do with the landscaping and interactivity with it. Medusa/Scream are just floorless copies slapped onto a flat surface. Kumba travels under 2 bridges, flys all around the queue line, and also has a tunnel at the end which is really cool at night-time. Maybe its just somethin you dont understand until you ride it. But after my first ride.... it still remains my # 1

Alrighty, I just wanted that clarified. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a fantastic coaster, just something I didn't know.
My vote went to Jake. I would have liked to see at least one more foreign coaster in there, after all this was a World draft, but he still has a great line-up of coasters.
MaverickManJZ, you were a very close second, I don't really know what I didn't like about yours, it just didn't click with me like Jake's did. You also had a very nice collection though.
apsterling, you were also up there with the other two in my mind. Very nice job.
Is everyone planning/expected to layout thier picks like MaverickManJZ did?

Alright, I'll explain mine a little...
Extreme Thrills
Nitro (SFGadv)- The king of floater air, with all the other pluses of yhe B&M Hyper; comfortable ride, great capacity, three train operation, rarely ever any downtime, etc.
Montu (BGA)- Placing only behind Nemsis and Black Mamba in the invert theming department, this is one of the most forceful B&M Inverts out there. Having no mid-course brake run, this ride is non stop action from start to finish.
Tremors (SW)- Claiming it's spot as the best wood of the west, this intense coaster experience will send you through four tunnels, one going right through the gift shop. That alone is an experience you won't want to miss.
Xcelerator (KBF)- It didn't take long for Intamin to get their accelerator coasters right, and Xcelerator puts the truth behind those words. Reaching 82 miles per hour in just over two seconds, it's still hard to find a launch as intense as this one.
Superman KC (SFFT)- Known as one of the, if not the absolute best floorless coasters in the world today. With non stop inversions and a drop right off the top of a limestone cliff, this scenic yet thrilling coaster will leave the biggest of thrill seekers satisfied.
Moderate Thrills
Phoenix (KG)- An absolute classic wooden coaster that the entire family can enjoy. Despite it's age and height, or lack there of, it is still able to rank amongst the best wooden coasters in most coaster enthusiast polls.
Mindbender (SFOG)- Known to be one of Schwarzkopf's greatest creation, this double looping terrain hugging coaster is the perfect way for a young thrill seeker to start off.
Lightning Racer (HP)- This twisting GCI creation is sure to bring out the competitive side of any coaster lover. Deuling almost 100% of the time, bringing the total amount of trains to four makes the capacity unheard of four a wooden coaster.
Eagle Fortress (EL)- Known by most of the enthusiasts who have been fortunate enough to ride it as the best suspended coaster experience out there. With it's terrain interaction at par with Boulder Dash and untouchable by most other "terrain" coaster, it is one of the most amazing coaster experiences out there.
For The Family
Vliegende Hollander (Eft)- Bringing an entire new aspect to your average log flume, an with theming impressive as just about any other coaster, this coaster will create an unforgetable experience.
Lisebergbanan (LB)- Winding down the mountain side with some unexpected pops of air, this coaster might not only looks impressive but it is. It ranks 22 in what is known to be the best roller coaster poll out there, Mitch Hawker's.
Roller Soaker (HP)- The definition of an interactive roller coaster. Weaving up over on lookers heads, this unique coaster is sure to bring a smile to the little one's face.
My vote went to Eclipse, well done man.
I was wondering how many of you planned out your picks in advance? It seems like a lot of you knew what you wanted before the draft even begun!
Thanks for the votes guys :).
Well, after an incredibly long debate with myselves ;), I decided Jake seemed to be the most balanced, especially withj respect to younger rides to balance out hypercoasters and whatnot.

I voted for MaverickManJZ.
@IF007: You don't have a flying, bobsled, stand up, mouse, spinning, and I don't think you have a floorless. You hardly have one of ever type. You statistically cover more types than anyone else, but I didn't see enough younger coasters to warrant voting for you.
I would've voted for Maverick since he had a better balance of wood to steel but but he had too many powered launch coasters. If you'd have replaced some of those powered ones with juniors, you'd have my vote.
MaverickManJZ
12-16-2007, 04:08 PM
^I was considering cutting out Mick D's MC for a little kiddie coaster, but I went for Mick D's because it's perfect for a step up coaster IMO. And not every great park has to have a coaster for ages 3 and under. That's why I picked Barnstormer. It's in the kiddie coaster area, and it's a ride that many have as their first...because it's in WDW! So I thought that could go as both a Junior and kiddie coaster.

Well, looks like I lost again, No matter though, it was fun.
It's been funny seeing the transition on how people voted on parks. The first drafts seemed to be based on what would be the "Thrill Enthusiasts dream." Now they are voted more on what is right for the family.
I've also caught on how this new aspect has people going for coasters that are more unknown to the US audience, trying to fill some sort of balance.
It's a bit hard to adapt to this, because in my opinion, you can't base how "Family Friendly" a park is just by it's coasters. It's always been the environment and how clean the park is, as well as the type of crowd it attracts and the attitude of the workers.
Now back to my picks, I don‘t think I went too overboard. Only two or three coasters based for a younger group by mosts standards. Although 7 of the 10 aren’t really insane, and of those I would defiantly see a "FAMILY" going on, not just something for the young'n's.
So I've come to the conclusion that my idea of "Family Friendly" is different than a lot of others, my park will probably be much different next time.
And I didn't vote, due to the reasons I stated above.

IMO, I still think my park is the best. I have something for every coaster enthudist out there; new or young.
Jake has a fantiastic park, but IMO his big flaw is having an Arrow mine train/whatever matterhorn is as his kiddie coaster, or no kiddie coaster. I mean, a park almost needs to have somthing children around the ages of 7 and under can enjoy.
Maybe his park has rides for children instead of coasters. Plus, there are some pretty small kids that go on Matterhorn.
I went on the Matterhorn for the first time when I was 3.. the height requirement is only three feet. If that isn't a family coaster, then I don't know what is.

Heck yes it's a family coaster. But not a kiddie coaster.
And Dan, you can't really say that...this is about coasters, not pretending things about the rest of the park.
Obviously it's not as small as your kiddie coaster. I voted for you, I'm not arguing that your park isn't better, but obviously you think your park is best..that's why you made the picks you made! It's up to us, the voters, to decide. And, as a whole we've decided Jake. You made a showcase with pictures of your park, there's really nothing else you can do to get votes, now its starting to seem like complaining.

I actualy think a "family coaster" is a better way to get a good ride and something for the kids, other than just a coaster for kids around 7.
But i've already made my say on this whole "Family Freindly" ordeal, so I'll leave it to you to go back and read it.
Edit: Also I found that through the draft there was some times that i wanted to critisize someone for their picks, but I decided to atleast but a good sport and just let them do what they want to.

Congratulations Jake on your victory! You really had an excellent collection of coasters! Now before we begin the next draft, I wanted to open the floor to everyone for any questions, concerns, or suggestions you may have for our next draft
I think that the next draft should consist of only U.S. coasters. I don't feel that most people in this draft took advantage of being able to pick up coasters from around the world and there were a lot of good U.S. coasters that were not picked up in this draft. I just think that a draft this size would work better, and possibly be a little more competitive if we could only choose from U.S. coasters. Other than that, I was really happy with the way this draft turned out. Great job Eclipse.
By the way, Congrats Jake.

Congratulations Jake!
Suggestions...
1) Try the judges thing. You know, like a trial run.
2) Make it USA only...I remember on the old forums we had one USA and one World...anybody else remember that?
3) More people, or more rounds.
4) Pre-made coaster pool.
Comments...
Great first run on the new forums. Looks like it'll stick.
1) Try the judges thing. You know, like a trial run.
Judges are just regular members who volunteer though, that's why I don't see the point in it.

Judges are just regular members who volunteer though, that's why I don't see the point in it.
Well maybe we could get judges who are more qualified for the positions (admins, people with high track records..)
As far as draft types, the next one will be a US Coaster draft. And maybe if you guys are up to it, we can throw in a European draft (people will really need to do some research for those)
We can open the draft up to say 15-20 people, but I don't want their to be too many because we may have some troubles getting people to participate. As for more rounds, we could do 15-20.
4) Pre-made coaster pool.
^this is the only one I am confused about. How would we be able to make this work?
As for the next draft, I am not looking to begin it until after the New Year (just incase people are on vacation) So start doing your research for the US draft!

More rounds+More people is not something that would help the draft, longer round times because of more people, and if there was more rounds, the draft would be extremely long.

Um...maybe take about fifteen-twenty or so coasters, mybe not AS well-known, but still recognizable coasters, and put 'em in a pool.
If someone wants to trade, they can exchange one of their coasters for one that was in the pool.
I think...

How about if we do 12 participants? (just to encourage more participation)

I was just pointing out that having both more rounds and more people is a problem. I think it should be based off something like "more people = less rounds." And vice-versa.

Yeah, I liked how there was the trading block. I'd really like that back. And when you miss a pick, you cause an inconvinince to other participating and you should have a consequence. You shouldn't just be able to pick one up from the pool. It's just....to darn easy!

Maybe we could make it so that you have to wait til the end of the draft to make up your picks

Why make up? That's why the "three missed picks and you're out" was a rule.
^ Agreed.
If you miss a pick, tough break. I have a feeling some people purposely missed picks in order to pick up a coaster from the pool.
I'm still firmly against judges. When everyone votes, it gives a much broader spectrum of opinions, not just three.
^If you're thinking I did that, you are wrong. It was nice to be able to pick up the coasters from the pool, and it does make it too easy. I had very bad luck when it came to the picks I missed, because my IP was blocked for the site and the people ahead of me made very fast picks before my second miss. I do agree that you shouldn't be able to make up every missed pick, but I could see a compromise where you get to make up your first missed pick, but after that you simply miss out.
Or, just PM the person running the draft with a list of your choices, and then if you're not online you don't miss a pick..

I did that when Comet wasn't on and I had picked so that when comet picked, eclipse could sign on and put all 3 of the picks down.
