View Full Version : SFDK 12/22/07 (Tonight)
My family and I will be heading down to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for Holiday in the Park Tonight. The park is open from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm and I should be there for the whole time. I'm going to get plenty of night rides on the newly repainted Medusa and on Kong. I'll also be checking out the new paint scheme on Boomerang, but I doubt it will be open tonight since it was just getting painted last weekend. We'll see what happens. I'm looking forward to seeing the park all decorated for Christmas. I will also be looking for any signs of Tony Hawk's Big Spin, but I doubt I'll find anything.

Hope you have fun! Take lots of pictures!
Kong only has 1 train operations, so the lines move very slow. I doubt Boomerang will be open. Last weekend when I was there it looked like they still had some work to do on the painting. Both Boomerang and Medusa smelled heavily of paint fumes. Since you're going to be there so long I recommend you go to some of the shows, but don't go to Santa's Late (4d simulator) because I thought it was pretty lame. It will also be a good chance to get your Roadrunner Express credit if you don't have it already (I got mine when I was there) because the ride ops don't check for height now. Have fun and say hi to Ryan Brietzke at Medusa for me.
^I didn't see your message until this morning. I thought that was Ryan, but I wasn't sure enough to say anything. He and the rest of the Medusa crew were doing pretty good during the last three or so hours of operation.
Here's how my night went, I'll get some pictures up later.
Medusa: 8 rides
Kong: 3 rides
Boomerang: 1 ride
The lines for Medusa were really long for the first couple of hours, but after about an hour of nearly constant technical problems the lines started to die down to empty lines except for a two train wait for front row. Once all of the technical problems were cleared up, the Medusa crew was pretty fast, they were only stacking every once in a while.
Kong was only running the yellow train, I didn't see any sign of the orange train anywhere, so I'm assuming that it is going through an extensive rehab, but I'm not positive. Kong only had a ten minute wait the first time I got on, after that the lines were pretty much dead.
Boomerang was open all night, but not many people went over to ride it. I rarely heard it going at all last night, but every time that I was over by there it was open there was just no on going on it.
Overall I enjoyed Holiday in the Park. Getting a lot of time for night rides on Kong and Medusa was awesome, it had been a long time since I had done that. It was really cold last night though, so I had to keep moving to keep warm. During Shouka's Dream show I was asked to fill out a Holiday in the Park survey, I told them that next year Roar, V2, and Tony Hawk's Big Spin should be open too.

On my early October visit, I believe it was the orang Kong train that had problems or something. I know that I was stuck at the blocks for a couple minutes one ride while they were doing something with the orange train. At one point they stopped loading people on that train and even claimed the ride as "broken down" for a brief period. Who knoooows.
