OK, my first ever Travel thread, yay..
Um, I am going to Great Adventure for the first time in May (the seventeenth to be exact) and I was wondering if anyone had some pointers...you know, tips, layouts, etc. 'cause I can't find a trip report anywhere...

No it opens in May. The commercials start around late April. And in June the Coke special starts.
I would suggest going to SUF before doing any other coaster. Saddly enough, it usually has the longest line of any coaster in the park. After that hit GASM. If Kingda Ka is actually working go there, if not head over to El Toro and Medusa. Then hit the other side of the park.
A heads up, don't be scared of KK's line. From the very front entrance of the ride to actually going on it is like an hour or so. Ignore the time signs in the line. If you want to sit front row, be prepared for a very very long time. With the duel loading (each with two stations) stations and 4 trains running, one out of every four trains is for your line. So just find the shortest row and go for it.

I went on a Friday over the summer, and here's what I've gathered...
-Hit El Toro first. It was a back row walk-on--which is incredible considering it's hands down the best ride in the park.
-As Nate said, Kingda Ka's line is very decieving. When I rode at about noon, the line was predicted to be about 150 minutes. It was 40 at most.
-Rolling Thunder has terrible loading times, so the line will take twice as long as it looks.
-Batman, Nitro, and Superman can get some crazy lines. They thin out a lot as the day goes on, but if the weather forecast isn't great, ride them early (I learned this the hard way--I still don't have a BTR credit or a flying coaster credit because of it).
Oh, and Best of The West is the best park restaurant ever. That is all.
El Toro's line is also decieving. From the front of the ride line to the actual ride is about a half an hour.

Basically for me go to the left side of the park first and work your way over to the right side. When I went a couple years ago my family started on the right side cause they said it was empty and better and everything is walk ons but all the rides that really mattered were on the left side and by the time we got over there they were very long and weren't able to ride them cause the lines were over and hour and we weren't waiting for that. So as said go to the left side of the park first.
KK and El Toro are on the left side of the park, along with SUF, GASM, and Medusa. The only real ride on the right side of the park is Nirto. I think it is a pretty easy choice of which side you should go to.
