Thorpe Park Opening Day PTR

Saturday 16th February - Thorpe Park Opening Day

So I went to Thorpe for their opening day of the 2008 season, hoping it would be better than last years opening day.

The Weather was perfect all day! Ok so it was pretty Cold (Between 5 - 10 Degrees Celcius all day), but apart from that it was brilliant! So their was a predicted 8 THRILL rides open for Saturday out of 12, and they got it correct. I didnt mind their being 4 main rides closed, im happier they got it right. Their were also things like Mr.Monkeys Banana Ride, Teacups and Octupus Gardens open so all in all it wasnt too bad.

All the coasters were on 1 train, but Colossus has a good reason for it. Park was busier then expected, and buseir than the Park expected, so X:\NWO was only on 2 trains, when it really should have been 3 or 4.

Never rode much, was all about meeting other people (from other forums) and seeing how thorpe was coping with Earlier openings.

Canada Creek was closed off from Burger King, but you could still get round the Fenced off bit into Slammer.

Sorry I never took much pictures of all the maintenence and intresting bits, never really got round to it, so some bits youll have to read instead of see.

Colossus and Inferno opened late, as certain rides cant run in certain temperatures, so Colossus opened at 2pm (and closed the queue at 3.30, so they could get round everyone in the queue, so the queue was only open for 1 and a half hours), and Inferno at just before 11.

Remember the park was only open between 10 and 5 as well.

Slammer was open on opening day for the first time its been there (has really never opened in time for opening once =|), so well done Slammer!

We went and searched for the remaining Rush seats...

And eventually found them! In the Arena! (Which is being used as a storage shed right now, there were also Rumba Rapids boats in there)

Tidal Wave's erm "lake" has been drained and cleaned!:biggrin:

Its splash area is also recieving maintence, as is the bottom of the drop.

The Colossus medusa pit has been cleaned and is now working! Was gushing out water all day, stunning effect when your actually there!

There are many great new things at the park, such as Vortex;s new restraints, new bins, paint jobs, and lots more general clean ups!:biggrin:

Queue times were busier then expected, but they werent too bad. Colossus was advertised as an hour, but some people told me that it was 90 minutes. Stealth was about 45 all day, and Nemesis was always between 15 and 30 minutes. Nemesis is back on 2 trains now. I dont know about X:\NWO, but it seemed longish. It was on 2 trains, but its usually run on 4, so its queue got to 80 minutes at one point, but I think they put a 3rd one on, so it then was around 50 minutes. Nothing else really got much of queue.
