next week my family is heading out for a 5 day Texas trip and we're spending some time at SFOT.
Few Questions:
1. What rides are worth waiting for, and which aren't?
2. is the park packed on fridays? I know everyone will be out for Spring Break so i'm a little worried. :scared:
3. Is Tony Hawk anywhere near opeing? It says spring '08 but not specifically, and we all now how updated SF is.
So expect tons of pictures!
This will be my second visit, but not in a long time. I barely remember it, and I can't wait to ride Goliaths sister. :thumbup2:

Here is what you should expect, being to SFOT once. Wait for Mr. Freeze, no matter how long, it'll go by, don't wait longer than half and hour for Batman. If Spongebob: The Ride is still open GO ON IT, IT'S WORTH IT. Titan moves slowly and gets huge lines, but its a great ride, so wait maybe 1 hour tops. Give Texas Giant and Shockwave 20 minutes. The park shouldn't be TOO crowded, maybe 45 minute waits for new and popular rides. Tony Hawk I believe is there, but I'm not sure how much is built.
I wasn't aware that over texas had any spongebob attractions. Ya learn something new every day.

It was a 4-D motion attraction, it was really cool, SFGA also had one.

just got back from the park. Here's a little update:
Left the house around 9:30 a.m. We got to the off ramp, and waited about an hour to get onto six flags drive. after waiting for so long, all the kids jumped out and walked the rest of the way to the park. get up to the gates around 10:45 and head straight for batman/mr. freeze, both 2 1/2 hour waits. we get in line and get yelled at to put all of our stuff in lockers, so i hide my camera.
we get in the station, ride the 30 second batman, not worth it, but they wanted to wait. after batman mr. freeze was closed fro a maintenance check. i felt bad for the guy watching the entrance, he had about 50 people ask him when it was going to open and he didn't know. after that we went around the park to find a papa johns and the line was a half hour just to get in, so we passed and decided to wait 15 minutes for turkey legs.
We got into the titan line and come to find out, it was a 5 hour wait, so we waited about 2 hours and got too hot and tired so we left, and waited 30 mins at the local gas staion for my aunt, and now i'm here. my cousin sister and I are going back aroung 7:30 and hopefully the lines will be cut down about 50 hours.
so for the five hours we were in the park, we got on a total of one roller coaster. i'm guessing just about everyone from texas was there. it was seriously ridiculous. So when we go back in about 3 hours, it'll be a lot less busy, but I don't go to parks this big that often so someone should let me know if the lines will have changed at all by then.

^ the lines really dont die down, I remember going to Seaworld orlando at around 6:30 pm and thinking all right the lines will be really short, well I walked to Kraken and it was a 2:00hr wait so no usually at big parks the ride lines never die down, usually.
Wow, that is crazy. I cant believe it is that crowded.
^ Same here, that's absolutely obscene. Sorry that you had to deal with those crowds.. It probably would have been good for you to purchase fastpasses, or Q-Bots if they have them.

That sounds like a bummer... Five hours for Titan!?
Does SFOT not do "park full, please visit another day?" The park sounded way over capacity.

SO i never did go back. A lady at our hotel said through out the whole 11 hours she was there, she only got four rides in with the crowds.
The only ride i got on my list was BM:TR.
Ride waits:
-Titan: 5+ hours(ALL switch-backs)
-Batman: The Ride: 2 1/2+ hours
-Texas Giant: 2+ hours(ALL switch-backs)
-Flashback: 1+ hour
-La Viabora: 2 hours
-Mr. Freeze: 3+ hours
The midways were over flowing with people, you couldn't even walk an inch without hitting somebody. Although I only got in one ride, I got plenty of pictures, some not so good, but I got a few great ones. I should have the PTR done on tuesday, so check back then.

Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that your trip isnt going exactly as you were hoping for, Mitch. I think Ryan used the best word when he said "bummer."
Again, sorry to hear about all of this. I cant wait to see your photos!
A word of advice, I know it may not make a whole big of a difference, but you should call the park up, or e-mail Six Flags itself to complain about the park not doing anything about the over-crowding. While it may not do a whole lot, at least you can feel good about trying to make a difference.

That's how SFGAdv was when I went back in 06. It must be really frustrating to come that far and be disappointed like that. :(

There's an idea of what it looked like. I'm glad I was far, far away from that mess.

According to screamscape, those who ordered tickets in advanced online, they found the prices to be 29.99 for an ADULT ticket. Many took advantage of that leading the park to reach it's capacity on a busy weekend.
Smart idea? I think not. It's spring break...it was going to be busy regardless. The reduced price tickets didn't help.

^Horrendous!
Every coaster was at least a 3 hour wait, with the exception of Flashback which was only 1 1/2, and Titan which was an astronomical 5 hours. :scared:

What I sent to SFOT.
"I recently attended Six Flags Over Texas on Friday the 21st all the way from Omaha, Nebraska, and my visit was rather... disappointing. Very disappointing actually. To start off, the park was beyond crowded! We couldn't walk a foot without bumping into someone. The park should have a certain cut off line for allowing guests to enter, there was way too many people! You guys need to determine a cut off line so the people already in the park aren't bombarded with extreme crowds. Secondly, we had to wait 3 hours to ride one ride and wait 45 minutes just to ORDER food, then waited an extra 10 to get it. For $30, and only getting on one ride, i was pretty pissed to be honest. To waist that much money and to get no compensation is ridiculous! I paid to have a good time and get my roller coaster fix, and i ended up paying for one ride and more money for food. I would honestly rate my visit a 2/10. I would highly recommend you do something about park overcrowding. The staff was generally nice, but the whole experience was horrible."

I suppose I shouldn't tell you about my trip then...I went two weeks ago, and the longest line I waited in was 15 minutes for Mr. Freeze. I rode Titan 6 times, including a bunch of rides where I didn't get off my train...I could've easily had around 40+ rides on the day, had I not been taking my time and taking pictures and such...as it stood, I ended with around 20-25 rides total, and each of the coasters...

Wow. way to bring me down. That's all I wanted, was to go to a big park, enjoy Mr. Freeze and Titan and what do I get? Waiting 3 hours for batman and an overcooked turkey leg. YAY!

Note to self: Do not go to SFOT on aFriday that has perfect weather when SF sells discount tickets.
^I feel sorry for you. Well, at least the pics you took had full trains. :)

yea, but I didn't get on Titan, shockwave, or mr. freeze, and those are what I was hoping for. And to pay 30 bucks for such a horrible outcome..
And I got an e-mail back from six flags and their going to give us comp. tickets for our unsatisfactory trip. Since we drove 14 hours just to go there and all.
