So, I noticed that we had one of these for NoLimits, but not for us NoLimits-challeged coaster folks! So, here is round 1 of the RCT3 Competition: You have just been assigned as CEO at a new resort in Las Vegas, and want to build a coaster at your beautiful new resort. You have decided you want a compact B&M flyer over the resorts "water park" (pools with some slides). It must include at least 5 inversions and can't go over 80 ft. The ride must be themed off something aquatic (no stealing names from SeaWorld!) and how you design, name, theme, and build the resort and water park is up to you. Good luck! You have two weeks, maybe I'll join in...

Do we have to build a waterpark for it to fly over? If so, will that be graded?

03-16-2008, 06:52 PM
Hmm...Why do competitions always start when my computer breaks down...

coastermatt
03-16-2008, 08:27 PM
taylo234- Yes, the resort must include a "small" waterpark, and you can create it as you like, but overall theming will be graded

thedeadfrog- Cause I put an evil hex on you! :P

**UPDATE** A time limit has been posted! You have two weeks until further notice! Good luck!

Excuse the double post, but would people rather me put up a park file with where things need to be put? I'd rather not because I want you guys to be as creative as you can...

Dont, it needs to be everyones own image

Yeah, no template please, I've already started.

taylo234
03-16-2008, 10:16 PM
Can it be small?

Cody
03-16-2008, 10:35 PM
I already have the coaster done. Is there any limit to how big this can be?

taylo234
03-16-2008, 10:59 PM
It must include at least 5 inversions and can't go over 80 ft

Michael
03-16-2008, 11:03 PM
^ 80 feet with 5 inversions? That's a little bit of a stretch. Maybe with a Euro Fighter that would be plausible, but a B&M Flyer? If I were you I would raise the height limit a bit :wink2:

Nate
03-16-2008, 11:25 PM
You could go below ground level. The coaster still wouldn't be over 80 ft. high and you would get a little more drop.

coastermatt
03-16-2008, 11:26 PM
Ok, no template then.

Taylo234- It can be as big as you want since there is no template.

Cody- Yes, the limit is 80 ft.

Micheal- I know its a bit tough, but you could add 2nd launches, change the geography a little, etc.

Nate- That is great thinking! :D

**UPDATE** The time limit has been shortened to 2 week, if this is a problem to anyone please let me know.

Michael

^ launches on a Flyer?
(No offense to Flying M's creation ;))

And wouldn't changing the geography also count toward ride height? Is the 80 ft just a limit for the lift hill or the total ride height difference?

coastermatt
03-16-2008, 11:31 PM
Hey, people didn't think that coasters could go upside down, and now look. The coaster can't go over 80 ft. above ground, under is no problem.

Sounds like fun! So we'll be graded on the theming of our water park, too? Do we have to build a hotel or resort?

coastermatt
03-16-2008, 11:36 PM
At first I didn't think this comp. would be noticed! But now people are checking it out! You must build a resort, theming counts hugely, but that doesn't mean you can slack off on the waterpark and coaster, you will be graded alot on those too. So the comp. WILL END SUNDAY, THE 30th, so some of you guys got a head start, and post some update pics, I want to see how things are coming!

Can the resort or hotel just be a building, or do we have to have restaurants, shops, etc. in it?

coastermatt
03-17-2008, 12:22 AM
It could just be a building, but having extras would get you extra points ;)

rollercoasterfreak91
03-18-2008, 06:54 PM
Hmm, won't have time to finish mine. If anyone wants the one I started, let me know. (It's basically a mountain with a small waterpark and huge waterfall and the beginnings of a flying coaster.)

coastermatt
03-19-2008, 01:11 AM
Do you need more time? I can extend the date.

rollercoasterfreak91
03-19-2008, 03:51 PM
That would depend how much more time. I'm limited on how mcuh I can use the computer, so I'm quite slow, and I wouldn't want to make everyone else wait. :)

coastermatt
03-19-2008, 07:09 PM
How long do you need?

Cody
03-19-2008, 07:43 PM
I think I would need more time too because I'm doing a lot this weekend.

coastermatt
03-19-2008, 09:05 PM
How about another week? Sound good?

Cody
03-19-2008, 09:33 PM
Thats fine with me. I'm going to detail this as much as possible.

coastermatt
03-19-2008, 10:59 PM
Fine with you rollercoasterfreak91?

rollercoasterfreak91
03-19-2008, 11:38 PM
We'll see. I'll try to get it done. I'm just frustrated with it at this point. Oh well. I'll try.:)

coastermatt
03-20-2008, 01:14 AM
Alright then, time extended to one more week...I'm sorry guys, this is my first time running a contest, but I'll learn for Round 2... ;) Contest ends MARCH 30th

rollercoasterfreak91
03-20-2008, 05:16 PM
Sounds great to me now...I started over...had reached a dead end...besides, theming a 200 ft. mountain is hard. 2 weeks ok.

coastermatt
03-21-2008, 12:19 AM
Cool, I have some amazing plans for Round 2...hehe

Ooo, I'll throw in mine. It's already posted on the site. CLICKY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXyLDTSGnzc)

Just for fun. I'm not really interested in the competition.

coastermatt
03-23-2008, 04:03 AM
I've seen that already, you posted it on a seperate thread. This won't count towards the competition ;)

thats mine

Cody
03-30-2008, 10:48 AM
Do we post screens of the ride or just post the file? I will have mine done a little before 12:00. I still got 3 more buildings to make.

Cody
03-30-2008, 04:44 PM
Ok, mine is done. So keep in mind that this was all rushed and I didn't have enough time to make it as detailed as I would have. I didn't have time to name the resort. I'll just give you what I got.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2195/shot0115oc9.png
This is what the front of the resort looks like.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/6045/shot0116ia7.jpg
And this is the back. The whole water park and the layout of my B&M flyer Hammerhead.

http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/5559/shot0117vu3.jpg
Hammerhead's station is located on the second floor of the resort.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2771/shot0118si2.jpg
When it leaves the station it soars over the main lobby and right into the launch.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/7793/shot0119xt3.jpg
At 53mph it shoots out the backside of the building.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/4033/shot0120aq1.jpg
Then takes you 76ft above the water park and swirls into the first inversion.

http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/5733/shot0121an5.jpg
Then it dives strait for the ground right next to the pool.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6573/shot0122oq8.jpg
Then shoots up again and does the second inversion over the hot tub hut.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/5930/shot0123ov6.jpg
Another view.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8640/shot0124cr9.jpg
It quickly does a half loop up and back into the flying possition over the pool.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3307/shot0125qj1.jpg
The best part of the ride is the third inversion. The coaster dives under the pool.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8453/shot0126ky0.jpg
Then comes up looking strait down into the water.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/7286/shot0127zq2.jpg
The fourth inversion rolls you on your back again over the waterslides.

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6283/shot0128sq9.jpg
Next it swirls into the helix. Putting you very close to the ground.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/6669/shot0129bd4.jpg
Curves into the fith and final inversion into the break run.

http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/285/shot0130gg3.jpg
I put a lot of detail into this. I always try and find a way to put in a storage track. The rocks you see around the water park are all footers. Also the water slides have custom supports.

http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3084/shot0131js5.jpg
I call this place Parrot Cay.

http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/1171/shot0132yh7.jpg
I put waterslides that have drops turns that twist everywhere close to the ground.

If I had a little more time I would put in things like a casino, arcade, tennis courts, game room and a cafe on the roof.

Tonight I will put up a download.
