Okay, this was a very useful tool on the old forums, and I thought I'd bring it back

First question, what would be the best way to create a holding brake on an inverted impulse coaster? (Like the vertical tower on V2 at SFGA) Any ideas would be very much appreciated :D

Take a look at the Steel Venom recreation that came with NL and see how they did it.

Take a look at the Steel Venom recreation that came with NL and see how they did it.
It came with Wicked Twister, not Steel Venom, so there isn't a holding brake.

Mike: Maybe you could utilize some sort of a reverse chain lift, like on boomerangs?

^ Version 1.5 comes with Steel Venom and Wicked Twister.

Make a break segment.

Turn off the block

Turn on the Complete stop.

Put the deceleration to 4.00

Put the Hysteresis to .64

And set the brake to activate a the end of the segment, center car.

Set the speed limit to what ever works.

Iv'e always wondered what Hysteresis meant... Does anyone have a good description of what it does? I always have left it alone...

The less Hysteresis, the the faster and more effective breaks are going to slow the train.

I didn't see a "specific" NL Help thread so I made one..

I wanted to know, does anyone know how to change your speed meter from kilometers to miles per hour? I saw it on a screen shot and was wondering how to do it.

Anyone know?

In the editor, go to options>preferences, then switch to imperial.

mitchellPAUL

it's still in Kilometers. Is there anything else I need to do?

If your talking about in-game then you have to go to options, others, and change metric to imperial.

I don't see an "other" option under options.

I made a small tutorial!

Open the Simulator and go to "Setup"

Once in the setup options, choose "others"
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f361/jdsmartdude911/2others.png

Click "Units" to change between Metric and Imperial. Hit OK to save changes.

How do I make custom scenery? Is it in another program?

Is there a way I can save a cluster of supports, so I may use it again in another spot?

Thanks!!

Alright...thanks!

On a Continuous Circuit, how do you make the coaster stop, and draw back into the station. Like a Boomerang Coaster, but a CC?

Sorry for the double trouble, but I'm making a X-Coaster, maybe that's the difference.

Hey, I used to be a member of this forum, (Coaster Man), but I haven't been designing for a while now, and I have forgotten the "smooth" tool. Isn't it CTR something?

On a Mac its Command G. I Have no idea what it is on a PC.

JD71
02-05-2008, 02:55 PM
Control G for a windows would be the shortcut. Or you could select the piece, go to Edit at the top, then select smooth.

It turns out, right after I posted this, I figured it out. Oh, well. Hope to show you some of my improved work soon.

on some designs from people in the community, their euro fighters have 3 rail tracks, like millenium force's tracks, how do u do that on a euro fighter?

IntaminFan007
03-09-2008, 07:23 PM
Double-click the track. It is there.

Just a general question...

Has No Limits gotten any easier to work with? I remember trying it out a few years back, and I couldn't make heads or tails of anything.

Michael
03-09-2008, 08:58 PM
^ Like any advanced program, No Limits is not a very easy program to use. It just takes a ton of practice.

So apparently my Editor runs slower than a Sloth, and it sometimes does even work! When I check out coasters in the Simulator, a message appears saying
"FATAL ERROR--- No suitable fullscreen mode found" I didn't even do anything. I've contacted NL about this many times. They just told me to run it in Software mode. Or they gave me another file. Nothing's working.

Look for new graphics drivers- it's not able to find the right screen size. Also, are you a widescreen? Setting it to a fullscreen mode (not stretched) for NoLimits may help.

Whisper
03-23-2008, 05:31 PM
Err... I don't have wide screen. But the strange thing is, it works on and off. The other day, the message reappeared, and now today, it works perfectly fine. I don't think anyone has a solution to this, lol. So I'll just take my computer in.

Thanks

O.K., I know someone posted this some where on here but I can't find it.

Does any one know where I can find the white environment that some people on here use to take pictures of their coasters in NoLimits?

On a side note: I've finally figured out how to make a fairly smooth coaster!

okay, so my mom deleted No Limits from the computer, and so I downloaded the demo. I thought the key-code entry was in the demo but i guess that's not the case. What do I have to do to re-enter my registration code?

Someone needs to send you their NL file. It wont have all of the features because it wont be a registered version, and you enter your code there under one of the help menus. I did this when I moved NL over to my laptop, and it worked fine.

Ok, so I Just made a No Limits Hyper Coaster (4 seat) and I noticed the only auto supports were wooden. I was wondering if anyone has made steel auto supports or if theres anyway to change it. Its a long track and it will take a while to put in the supports. Thanks for the help!

I have been using NL for over 3 years (most of those days it has been used by me, constantly building, smoothing, improving my skills..), and know a ton about it, from collected info over the years. Got a question about supports, or need some help smoothing a particular element, I most certainly can help you, or someone else on this site.

Along the way, I'll include some building tips as well, and building techniques all the manufacturers use.

mitchellPAUL

So I downloaded the white environment & put it in the environment folder like it told me to. When I open NL and select it, it's just the plain old grass and a white surrounding. Am I doing something wrong, or does anyone else get this?

thatdancingbear
01-22-2009, 08:17 PM
Yes. You cannot use terrain with the white environment, the ground must be completely flat. Try lowering the terrain to zero in the terraformer and run the sim again.

mitchellPAUL
01-22-2009, 09:50 PM
It is, i haven't done anything to terrain at all, it's completely flat.

thatdancingbear
01-23-2009, 04:41 AM
The only other thing I could think to do is make the ground texture pattern pure white... Maybe this is a known bug and there is a fix for it somehow but as far as I know white ground is the easiest way to do it...

mitchellPAUL
01-23-2009, 05:39 PM
How do I do that?

mitchellPAUL
06-22-2009, 09:09 PM
Okay, so I have a wooden coaster, but when I use the custom supports, they get all messed up and the lateral supports disappear in the ground and don't look right.
