View Full Version : Six Flags Michigan *Joint Project* Updated 2/27/10
Sam and I are announcing our first joint RCT2 project: Six Flags Michigan (Working Title). We've been working on this project for about a week. Now it seems like everyone is working on a Six Flags park... These screens are very unfinished, we're just looking some comments and constructive criticism on what we've got so far.

^This is the beginning of the entrance area. It's some what inspired by SFDK here.

^This is the entrance. It is definitely not the finished and will probably see several changes before we're done.

^Great American Scream Machine a John Miller coaster.

^Here is part of the main midway.

^Here is Iron Eagle. Track work is not 100% so changes may happen.

^Finally, here is Superman a non-inverting Maverick style Intamin coaster.
Please comment. We would really appreciate it!

I like the other screens but your supports on Superman, need ALOT of work, zero clearance the ride so you can connect the supports to the ride, and you footers look wierd when there yellow and blue.
^Sorry, I should have mentioned that sooner, the supports are not done, they still need a lot of work, thanks for mentioning it.

As R.C. said, the shots here are very much unfinished. Better supporting will come later on. :cool1:

It looks pretty good so far. If there was one thing to point out though, please please please change the station colors on superman, and maybe make it a little less blocky?
^Thanks. What colors would you suggest? The building is supposed to be kind of blocky, because it's supposed to be an office building. It's O.K. to have a blocky building if it fits the theme... Thanks for the comment!

Well if I had to suggest I'd say deffinitally something more tame. I mean if your going for a building, its rare to see a bright yellow, variations of blue, red, and gray all in one building. Plus, from what I know Six Flags doesn't do too much for themeing, atleast I couldn't see them throwing something like this in there. If you're satisfied with what you have though feel free to keep it, it's your park. Also, don't take any of my comments personally I'm just trying to point out some possible improvements.

You've got them confused with Cedar Fair buddy. Look at what Six Flags has done with coasters like Kingda Ka (with the Golden Kingdom themed area), and what they have in store for The Dark Knight coasters. In fact, go to SFDK and have a look around the park. You will be pleasantly surprised; versus a visit to say, some place like Knott's.
As for everything else, the yellow roofs will probably be changed. As said earlier. This is a very rough design and the final product will most likely end up looking completely different.
Thanks. :)

You've got them confused with Cedar Fair buddy.
I think he meant compared to say Busch Gardens or Universal or something along those lines.
Hey all. Just a quick update on Six Flags Michigan. R.C. has been busy lately and now that I have graduated and am out for the summer, I have finished my Evergreen Lake park, and the craziness of the past few weeks of my life has come and gone, it's time for an update on our park. First off, things have been moving along very slowly. Basically everything here is new from what is already shown. Second, no this park will not be killed off like Evergreen Lake was. Finally, this will not be a coaster packed park like my projects have been.

What could that Arrow track be?
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/886/scr5re2.png
What do you think of R.C.'s buildings?
Too many windows on that building, it looks like it's only half made of brick.
^I'll work on the windows. The "one" building is supposed to be three separate buildings built right next to each other so that's why only part of the building is brick.

well.
the bulding has way to much vines and stuff on it.
the colors arent that great either.
the first too screens look nice though.

^ I agree with Nokia. Also try to distinguish the buildings more as they all seem to be in line with each other make some come out and etc. They all seem like one building with just textures changing between each one. But everything else is nice and looks good.
3rd screen:
Chill with the colors:The neon-muticolor vines growing up the sides of all of these buildings would look better colored green or removed.
Vary the footprint: Right now you're facade, which looks pretty nice, has 3 or so buildings, yet the fronts of all of these buildings line up perfectly straight. If you want to give each structure a seperate look and boost atmosphere, try sliding one of the structures back, one froward, etc, to give each one a more unique look. Right now it looks like one messy wall.
Foliage: Besides the bushes the screen seems quite barren. Adding some tall trees near the buildings, and gardens to break up the midway could improve this screen.
As far as the other screens, there isn't much to comment on. You guy's really do make a great combo though, keep it up.
Happy Independence Day!

A quick update. I will be continuing to work with R.C. on this project for about three more weeks before I drop out. I am backing out because I will be getting ready to move to Colorado for college, as well as attending the TPR east coast trip for 11 days in August! All the general layout on the park is here - everything is just very much unfinished. It will be a while before it is done, as work is progressing very slowly, yet nicely. Anything you expect to find in a Six Flags park will be found here.

Nice work on the flag!:thumbup1:
^The flag does look really good.
It is unfortunate that Sam is going to have to drop out because of college, but he's got to do what he's got to do. We're looking forward to releasing more of this park in a little bit!
I have the park now, so I will post the second full update. That last one I did was more of a preview. Here is a bit of a showcase of our work on the park. If I can accomplish enough in the next several weeks, I will post another, although very small, update on new stuff before handing it back to R.C. once and for all. Don't hold me to this though.

"Blue Fire" - an Arrow double loop, double corkscrew coaster - opened in 1979. Since then, the area has grown immensely (in trees that is).
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1518/scr10et4.png (http://imageshack.us)
It also goes around the parks Antique Taxis car ride.
http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/9118/scr5fu6.png (http://imageshack.us)
"Blue Fire" is in the last section of the park untouched since the Six Flags management took over. Lots of landscaping. The MCBR (although often turned off) is located right alongside the parks amphitheater seen behind the coaster here.
http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/2771/scr1ap5.png (http://imageshack.us)
After the MCBR, the coaster makes a sharp downward turn to the right immediately into a double corkscrew, followed by a 360 degree upward helix and then into the brakes!

Some more of R.C.'s amazing building work on the midway.
http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/8825/scr8kw6.png (http://imageshack.us)
Skipping over the bumper cars at the top of the screen; "Turbo Tower" an Intamin Gyro-Drop opened in May 1999 alongside the park's small manmade lake - Saw Mill Lake. Six years later, the park opened the Johnny Rockets restaurant featuring lakeside dining. This restaurant became so popular at the park that Six Flags decided to continue the trend at it's other parks in the future years. :wink2:
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3139/scr13by4.png (http://imageshack.us)
"Superman" an Intamin non-inverting Maverick style coaster, opened in 2006 to replace the park's beloved Intamin 1st-Gen "Freefall" ride and some other less notable stuff. Although Cedar Point is less than 3 hours away from the park with the high ground on the competition, "Superman" still remains very popular.

I'm not feeling a Six Flags atmosphere to say the least.

That building needs a bit more support because those fences don't look like they'd hold the building up. Also Johnny Rockets is nice but I think it could have a few more details. But the rest seems to be fine though.

Is Superman going to be CS? the park looks good, but as nin said I am not feeling the Six Flags vibe.
^ Yeah I think so. R.C. is the mastermind behind everything on this project, so ask him.
As for the Six Flags vibe, you haven't seen the clones of the park yet. A generic Boomerang is one of them. The next update will feature the other common Six Flags clone. :wink2:

sorry, those buldings just arent doing it for me.
and why dont those 3 benches have tables?
love the first 2 screens.
Oh, forgot to mention. The Six Flags Gear building would cave under those wooden poles.
^ That is simply an overhang for the building. The part touching the ground can not be seen due to the limitations in viewing angles in RCT2. I will go in and add something to make the building look more reinforced.
^^ Zero clearencing scenery on top of something that is not meant to do in the regular game does not always show up on the screen when it is there.

Keep up the great work Sam!! I want to go there in real life. I'd pay Disneyland admission for this park:drool:
^ On the subject of that, here's the park's river rapids ride - much better (and wetter) than the lame one we rode at CGA on Tuesday. "Thunder Falls" by Intamin opened in 1983 as part of the park's expansion that year. In addition to the typical rapids ride elements, the ride features a fairly large underground portion, as well as two waterfall sections that will drench everyone in the boat. :w00t:
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/577/scr8ks5.png (http://imageshack.us)
With R.C. in El Salvador for two weeks, and me not having anything to do since I'm back from my CGA trip for the next few weeks, I took quite a bit of time today to work on the park. The "clones" I promised to show off still need some work so they will not be posted until after R.C. is back.

Really awesome park, keep up the good work.
1 question: how do you make the river rapids be beneath water level?
The time has come for me to announce my withdrawl from the project and leave the rest to R.C. I will be moving away to college tomorrow and will be very busy for the rest of the year - too busy for RCT2. I have done more than my share on this park, so I leave my last post on this project with a little background info on the park and some screens.
The park opened in 1974 in Ann Arbor, MI as Washtenaw Park with just a few attractions including a log flume and the Great American Scream Machine wooden roller coaster (originally named "Coaster"). In 1979 the park expanded and included a new roller coaster, "Blue Fire" a mini-golf course, and an amphetheater. In 1983 The park was purchased by Six Flags and renamed Six Flags Michigan. That same year the park opened the "Thunder Falls" river rapids ride. Over the past years, the park has added notable coaster such as "Iron Eagle" in 1990 and "Batman the Ride" in 2000. The most recent of these major coasters was a non-inverting Intamin Maverick style "mini hyper" coaster "Superman" which opened in 2006 and replaced the park's 1984 Intamin 1st-generation drop ride "Freefall." For 2008, the park demolished the Batman Stunt Stadium and replaced it with a Thomas Town children's area. The park has no current plans for 2009 except for the removal of Splash Water Falls after the 2009 season to make way for a small water park in 2010, and with Six Flags not doing so hot economic wise, don't expect any major new coasters for at least 4 years at the park. The distinct differences in park atmosphere and architecture are one way to tell what was built before Six Flags management took over, and what was built after.
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3056/49492788hd4.png (http://imageshack.us)
Springhill Log Flume opened with the park in 1974.
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/3254/11917106ds4.png (http://imageshack.us)
Woody's Pizza, known for buffet style wood oven fried pizza, is on the second level of the queue building for the log ride. No day at the park would be complete without experiencing this as well as Springhill Log Flume.
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5331/92304854yi8.png (http://imageshack.us)
In 1996, the park opened a self titled generic Boomerang coaster.
http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/3992/32086542at0.png (http://imageshack.us)
Batman The Ride, a mirror image of the original, opened in 2000.
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4744/81236516hc4.png (http://imageshack.us)
Thomas Town opened earlier this year and features just two attractions.
http://img393.imageshack.us/img393/4095/26668385lq6.png (http://imageshack.us)
Thomas the Tank Engine train ride.

Ok support-work on the boomerang, but some connecting pieces are needed, I really like the Batman coaster, goodjob on the surrounding area.
Your ideas are good, but execution is poor.
nin your comments are not helpful in the slightest. Instead of telling him where he did "poorly," you just shoot him down. Try to be helpful and explain what you are talking about or don't make any comments. You have been increasingly negative so cut it out and help be more constructive.
Sam the park looks great, my only problem is with the stations. You can see the entrance buildings where the roofs are. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more.

I'm diggin the rapid's screen.
Ok, more detailed explanation. Execution in mind.
For example (sorry btw..), Your small Thomas coaster could be much longer, even if it's considered to be a kiddie coaster. Many dont just go up, down, and then into the brake run, but go through some helixes, etc. Add some life into that coaster. And believe it or not, but six flags does theme. so spruce up those areas! if it has some kind of theme in the name (namely batman, looney tunes, etc.) theme them! The Thomas Towns' have train stations, blue-roofed buildings, etc., all to go along with the theme of the show. The same applies to tony hawk, WB characters, and even some of SF's boomerangs.
Thanks for giving more detail, nin. I do appreciate what you are trying to say. You have to remember that this is not nearly 100% complete. This park is completely a work in progress. Believe me, we wanted the Percy coaster to be longer and more exciting, but there just isn't room for more, notice the path right behind it.
I will work on the themes of these areas, I've known that they need more. Trust me, it will come together once you start to see more of the park.

I'd like to know where you guys got the tube supports for the Superman Coaster? Is there an update or download so I can get some of those features for my game?
It just seems like there's a bunch of stuff you guys got in your screenshots that I didn't get with RCT and all 3 Expansion Packs. If you have some suggestions as to where I can get some of that stuff for myself, that'd be great.
(and don't worry about me showing them off or sharing them with anyone else, its simply for my personal use and that's all)

Just go to www.nedesigns.com and download the parks, etc. there and you'll get all those bells and whistles that you want.
^Yeah, if you download almost any park from there you'll get all of the custom scenery that we are using in this park.
Park Update: Work is going very slow. I'm getting little things done here and there. My computer is down for the next few days so I can't work on the park and I still get get onto the forums from that computer. I'm on another laptop right now and I didn't know I could get on from this one so there will probably be an update coming once I get my laptop back. I want to keep you guys updated, so hopefully I can continue to access the forums from this computer.
Looking forward to see what's new since I had to drop out. :)
Here is a look at some of the things that the original owners of Six Flags Michigan brought to this park:
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p13/RCMTHEii/Six%20Flags%20Michigan/Theater.gif
The amphitheater.

The mini golf course.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p13/RCMTHEii/Six%20Flags%20Michigan/GoKarts.gif
The go-kart course.
The amphitheater, the mini golf course, and the go-kart course were all built in 1979 as a way to bring in more money for the park. The amphitheater has hosted many bands over the years and continues to play a huge part in the park's Summer Concert Series.
Now onto some of the newer things in the park:

New for 2008: Mandatory Lockers!
Now that my computer is working (Had to replace the motherboard...) I will be able to post more updates. Thanks for looking! :D
Everything looks good R.C. It's amazing how we still have so much more Six Flags stuff including a major coaster yet to show off! ;)

O.k. After over a year, Six Flags Michigan is back. I had lost interest in this park, I just didn't have any ideas for the park. I have gone back into the park and started to add more detail to the different areas of the park in the last few days. I have tried to take all of the feedback people have given in the past and incorporated it into what I have been trying to do.
