View Full Version : U.S. Draft (Draft Thread)

Eclipse
05-12-2008, 06:46 AM
Here's the list of rules:

-Players have 12 rounds to make the most well-rounded park. The order will be selected randomly and will reverse at the end of each round.

-Players will have 24 hours to make their pick; once the player has made the pick or 24 hours has passed, the next player may make their pick. If you do not meet the deadline, than your pick will be skipped until the end of the draft, which then is when you can makeup your pick. If you miss atleast 3 picks, you will be disqualified and your picks will be put into the Pool.

*-The Pool will be compromised of picks that a disqualified person has made. Once the picks are put into the Pool, they are available to everyone and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you happen to miss a pick and there are picks available in the Pool, you may makeup your missed pick with a coaster in the Pool but you must wait atleast 3 turns until you may makeup your pick.

-I will also ask that nobody makes suggestions for coasters people should pick. It's not fair to other members and such posts will be deleted.

-When making a pick, a post should contain the full name of the coaster. Abbreviations for parks will be allowed as long as they are exact.

-About making trades: For trades to be official, both sides need to officially agree to the trade by posting here saying that you either announce or confirm the trade in question.

Here's the list of coasters that are eligable:

-All coasters must be operating. (includes coasters experiencing minor breakdowns or minor rehabs)

-Coasters that are no longer standing or not running this year are not eligible. (includes coasters being relocated or coasters experiencing a major rehab)

-A coaster under construction cannot be picked until it is running and open to the public.

-A coaster can only be picked once; once it is selected, no one else may select it again.

*-You may not select two of the exact same coaster with the same manufacturer. Ex: If you pick Batman: TR (SFMM), then you cannot pick another B&M invert unless you get rid of it. But you are able to pick a Vekoma invert (though i don't know why you would ) This rule also applies to Wooden Coasters!

"Your Name" = your turn to pick
"Your Name" = you are next to pick
$= coaster is on the trading block
X = missed pick

Micheals up, Remember, regardless if the homepage is updated or not, if it's your turn, you still only have 24 hours from that post.

Also, I know this is proboly just a peeve of mine...But could have some sort of format to the picks? Atleast the nessicessitys like The Coaster name, the park name, and a RCDB link. With an optional picture? It helps to picture just exactly everything is.

I'm looking foreward to my pick :3.

Dan
05-20-2008, 06:24 PM
Well, I know the way we used to play was that the first and last drafters got 36 hours to make both picks.

Jake

^Technically yes, but ill let it slide this time.

Oh and as far as having 36 hours for 2 picks, i think its quite pointless. Usually, when it comes time for someone to pick, there are 2 or 3 coasters that are sticking out in their mind. I don't think the extra 12 hours would really make that much of a difference. But hey thats just one mans opinion

I don't think the extra 12 hours would really make that much of a difference. But hey thats just one mans opinionThe point is that they get a bit more time so that they don't lose two picks at once, but they don't get 48. The thinking behind the time is, someone who doesn't show up in 36 probably won't show up in 48. It's not about how long they have to think.

Eclipse
05-20-2008, 09:52 PM
So do you all think we should extend it to 36 hours?

Dan
05-20-2008, 09:55 PM
I know I keep going on about this, so I apologize for that. However...

You're actually decreasing a 48 hour period to 36 hours. It's meant to save time, but still give the people on each end extra time because they have more to lose.

Don't worry man its ok.

I actually haven't run into this sort of problem yet and I was going to keep it at 24 hours. But after hearing some of your points, I agree that 36 hours is suitable.

I thought you were not allowed to pick up coasters from the pool without dropping one of your own into it?

Luxornv
05-29-2008, 01:13 AM
I'm not entirely sure on that one. Since it's my turn, I don't see a reason why I shouldn't be able to pick it. However if I do have to drop a pick to get something from the pool, I'll pick something else. I'll PM my alternate to Eclipse now if I cannot pick Storm Runner legally.

Eclipse

Just to clarify,

You may only take a pick from the pool if:

A) You have missed a pick.

or

B) You want to swap out one of your picks for one of the pools picks. You may not use a pick to take something up from the pool. You have to pick another coaster that has not been chosen yet and must wait a minimum of 3 turns.

I know its kind of confusing. So if you still have questions, please feel free to PM me. Sorry for the confusion!

Well If I understand correctly, Storm runner is still up for grabs, so I'll take that, and I do also believe this is my third turn since I missed it so I can grab something from the pool if I want it right?

Er...No...
I think you've gotten it backwards.
You can only pick from the pool if you drop a coaster or if you have missed a pick...

Too quote a few posting back...

Well there are a few things wrong with that. Technically, you are able to take Storm Runner because you have missed a pick. But you can't use your current pick to take it. So in essence, you missed another pick.

Gosh I guess we got alot more kinks to work out than I thought :confused1:

Anyways, its my turn to pick again. For my next choice, I will pick the #1 inverted coaster (According to RCPro's Top 10 editorial :thumbup1:) I choose Alpengeist @ BGEurope

hold up, It was 3 turns since I missed my pick, so I can pick from the pool right? I was able to pick from the pool to make up a pick, Which I did, but I just missed my other choice right?

If you miss a pick, you must wait atleast 3 turns till you are allowed to pick up another coaster from the Pool. So yes you were able to pick up storm runner. But since you didn't make a choice for your regular pick, you missed it and now have 2 strikes. So if you miss another pick, you will be booted from the draft.

thedeadfrog
06-11-2008, 12:13 AM
The Pool will be compromised of picks that a disqualified person has made.

Unfortunately, this is not a valid pick. According to rcdb.com, This coaster is a wooden coaster designed by CCI, just like his other pick, Tremors. He had sent me a PM prior to his pick and I was unable to reach him on time. So, he will be given 24 hours from this post to make another pick. But Exceller's pick will stay for now. After Brandon remakes his pick, the order will resume in natural order starting with Haunt-Freak.

P.S. - Just a tip, if you ever have questions regarding your picks validity, just use rcdb.com as your bible ;)

^ That is absolutely ridiculous. If I can have two different styles of B&M coasters, why can he not do the same with wooden roller coasters?

Like I said, according to rcdb (which is what I use to make decisions), it is not separated into a different style. A different type of support does not change the style of the coaster. If this is something you guys would like to change for future drafts, I have no problem doing so. But for this draft, the rule stands.
